The question was very clearly name a Russian player who played in a game in which the Stanley Cup was awarded. lol MB

Goalies are tough because of how different eras were. But I'll just ignore that and say...

1. Hasek
2. Roy
3. Brodeur
4. Dryden
5. Plante
6. Thomas
7. Lundqvist
8. Luongo
9. Kiprusoff
10. Beaupre

i thought the spirit of it was on a Cup-winning team, but w/e

and the draft one was name a city containing a building where the draft was held

so in theory Glendale and Denver could be good answers, Phoenix or COLORADO not so much

I've always wanted to do a one-year salary cap draft with full rosters but that would never finish.

NHL has reportedly offered a new proposal to the PA. The offer has movement on contract term and variance as well as buyouts.

Per Lebrun and Eklund(seriously) on the twitter.

Baby steps.

Apparently league offer has moved to 6 year limit on contract length, 7 years if re-signing own player.

Variance upped from 5% to 10%.

Russian tv ran a story on players wishing to spend New Years in their home towns. If lockout ends today, they have 48 hours to report to their clubs.

Assuming this is true - and I do because Dreger reported it - if the NHL can throw a few more dollars into Make Whole, it just might head off this January 2 disclaimer of interest. Also the fact that it was a secret offer makes it much more credible.

Clubs can allow players to stay, and I highly doubt they wouldn't let all players finish the tourny.

Edit - think I misunderstood sylars post

Tjay, my post was not about the wjc tourney. It's about players playing in the khl.

Re: Bettman Lockout III Thread (aka NHL Offseason: Now & Forever)

I sincerely doubt there will be an agreement within 48 hours. There's still tons of little stuff to work out even if they got the framework in place for an agreement.

My sources say owners have privately informed Bettman cancelling the season is not an acceptable option.
This is nice to read.

So is this (from Dallas Stars beat writer):

I'm hearing NHL has targeted Jan. 19 as potential start date. Would like week-long camp. Wants this deal done by Jan. 10, 11.

Canceling the season was never an option, IMO. I think Fehr has always known that, too.

I agree. Part of me wonders if the owners in question here include the hardliners or if their voices have finally been shouted down by what seems to me to be a larger group of moderates.

Lol you guys are cute

The NHL will never exist again as we know it. This "deal" and "optimism" is exactly what we've seen 5 times during this ordeal and nothing came of it. This season will be canceled, next season will be canceled, and by fall 2014 a new league will be in place.

I think it includes the hardliners. Common sense says that they'd hold out as long as possible, which is a 48 game season or whatever. There was no point giving anything before now, and they'll probably move a bit more before the deal is done by January 10 or whatever. This is probably the start of the real negotiating.

And the Toronto franchises still won't make the playoffs.

Why are the OKC Barons so bad? Shouldnt they be dominating? I guess if you get all those highly touted Canadians together on one team they just naturally underachieve.

Sooo, this thing is gonna happen in about 7-10 days.

Now, what are the chances the NHL gives us GCL for free this year?
