I watch a lot of hockey. Too much.

I'll repost the answers I gave 72o; wrote down "ughhhhhhh" for a bunch of them because I couldn't put the name to the face. Stepan and Pouliot were the most frustrating.

Re: Bettman Lockout III Thread (aka NHL Offseason: Now & Forever)

I figure that right about now, the chances of having a season played this year is nowhere near 95%, I think it's more like maybe 60-40? I mean I love the fact that some people don't seem concerned at all and I hope it turns out that way but ...

The argument seems to be that there is just too much money on the table to lose and they can't possibly be dumb enough to walk away from it but guess what, half the season is gone already. Yeah factor in PO revenue and they haven't lost half their income for the season but they have lost probably somewhere between 30-35%. Considering that, how anyone can be 95% sure that they can't possibly be dumb enough to lose the rest is beyond me.

Time to face reality. They might still get a deal done, but then again, they might not. These are guys who have already pissed away about a third of their profits for the year for crissakes, we're not talking about the brightest bulbs in the chandelier.

If by that you mean the owners will not move an inch from where they are now, then my guess is no season. Players have pride, hell everyone has some pride and that IMO will prevent them from crawling back to the owners to beg for the last offer to be put back on the table.

Don Fehr's job is to make a deal, the best possible deal for his players. Of course, it's possible that many players will end up losing money compared to having just signed the 82 game proposal from like November 1st. But look at the particulars of the differences instead of focusing on how stubborn each side has already been. In terms of pure dollars and cents, they're pretty close. The players have given up a lot already in the negotiations (compared to what they had), that's a fact.

Both sides say they're still confident there will be a season. If they struck a deal in the past week, what would that have given them, like a 55 game season? Compared to how far the players have come, it makes sense that they wouldn't cave over an extra 2 weeks pay. There's a big difference between losing a chunk of the season and losing the WHOLE season. The rank and file are already getting restless. In the coming weeks after Christmas, the players will tell Fehr and their reps "ok, it's getting down to it here, let's see if we can get a concession or two and essentially sign some version of the owners last proposal, and poof! Like magic, they will crank out a deal in a matter of 3-5 days. By this time next month, our exciting 48 game season will be underway!

Oh and one more thing; Jeremy Jacobs, the POS behind the curtain in all of this, won't piss away all that Bruins playoff revenue.

95% maybe not, but 60/40 is way off. This thing will get done when both sides realize the drop dead date is upon them. It's tracked this way all along from the moment the owners first offered the insulting 43% deal.

Re: Bettman Lockout III Thread (aka NHL Offseason: Now & Forever)

So it's a three way tie for first place? Blasphemy! We need to resolve this. 5 more random player pictures to determine the winner?

Re: Matthias - he isn't any good or notable whatsoever but his facial characteristics are pretty distinct and I've seen that particular picture of him a couple of times. Had it been just a random picture of him out partying or something I'm not sure if I would have figured it out.

I agree, if a deal will get done, this is how it will likely go down - the players completely cave but try to make it look like they didn't to save some face.
