Re: Bettman Lockout III Thread (aka NHL Offseason: Now & Forever)

I think a greater percentage of revenues would be profit, even if it doesn't make more money overall. James Mirtle speculated that the league would make 75% of normal revenues in a 48 game season.

Since both sides have already decided that 48 games is the number, there's no sense in negotiating early.

Re: Bettman Lockout III Thread (aka NHL Offseason: Now & Forever)

For safety issues, extra days off, etc. I think the players would want the 48 games spread over a longer period. 48 games starting on jan 20 (rather than jan 1) is going to have a more packed schedule.

But this is a labor negotiation about money rather than player safety. Meh.

End the lockout so I can stop reading about Kyle Turris hating Finland.

Re: Bettman Lockout III Thread (aka NHL Offseason: Now & Forever)

worth it to force myself to finish a tl;dr NHL related project? i've been working on two (one is part 2 of my version of the Canucks history 1995-present day, the other is a Bertuzzi-Moore incident retrospective piece), but they're both already looking like they're going to be super long, and maybe not real interesting to anyone else. luckily i've barely even gotten started on either...

I assume the first one will be a goldmine of randomly inserted Leafs related bashing; the second thing I am curious how you would accomplish such a feat so please, by all means.

Just a question: if the entire NHL becomes UFA, what percentage stays with their current teams?

Re: Bettman Lockout III Thread (aka NHL Offseason: Now & Forever)

wow, what Dynamo is doing to Mikhail Anisin right now, is straight out of crime and punishment.

the guy didn't like being sent to the farm team, so he declared a boycott to the team and wouldn't report to the farm, and also called the gm a couple of names. so they suspended him for a few days, then they fired him, now they are going sue him for breach of his contract and financial damages. the gm now gave an interview that dynamo is just doing everything in their legal right to protect the name of the club, unlike Anisin who is "just being mean".

if there's a lesson in all of this, don't **** with the KGBFSB.

It's causing a stir on local radio. I assumed he would be naked or something.
