Yup. Deal will be done in a week. Someone was high when thinking Cololumbus would be a good place for the ASG.

Justin Schultz still tearing up the AHL. 28 points in 18 games. I think the Oilers may finally have a d-Man.

A bit more flex on system issues and Make Whole by owners could change direction of negs, but, some say owners won't or can't give anymore.
lol, I've lost a lot of respect for Dreger during this lockout.

Even though there is a lockout, there is no break w/r/t the sharks being classy though - still doing a bunch of amazing work in the community through the sharks foundation. They designate days of service, set up drives to give back for the under privileged, and much more, etc. This is when they arent building hospitals for children and stuff. #stillclassy

Crappy. I always thought mediation was basically you sign a document saying 'we give you full power to decide this by X date', and then it's like a trial to prove why it should go your way, and the mediator ends up compromising as fair as possible (or for who he plays squash with.). Am I way off?

You could redo that whole Hitler/Downfall meme with the "Scouts?" scene from Slapshot. Today's rant, "Mediators?"

at the same time its impossible to do worse than the status quo. Isnt this how basketball fixed their lockout last year? Im an optimist, but i really cant see a relative downside.

Let's be honest, is basketball coming back the best example of american mediation?

yes, you are. mediation is shuttle diplomacy. the mediator has no power to decide anything. all he does is try to help move the negotiations along....

but yeah, mediators can be very effective, depending on their skill and the willingness of the parties to participate in good faith. this is a positive development. wish it had happened sooner, but the parties needed to feel there was an impasse before they would agree to it.
