To be fair, I've made like 30 'Geddy is a Leaf fan' comments in NHL threads.

Ha, true.

And speaking of Leafs, have we talked about this yet?

Sundin's plaque at the hall of fame. It doesn't really look like him, and wtf is with the hair? What?

The guy had legendary early 90's hair, and rocked the completely bald look without looking white suppremacist-y, but you make his plaque look like that?

I go full bald, with this a close second.

really makes you wonder why he wants the lockout to end. It's like trading in the new sharper knife for the old dull one to stab yourself with.

Also, saw Neil Young & Crazy Horse tonight. Still don't know what the **** I just saw. Most bizarre big venue show I have ever seen.

I would loved to have been there. You gotta do a trip report now dude. Did the Sadies open? Did Neil say anything about being straight on stage for a change?

I read his new book recently, very interesting read, I personally loved it. And I have huge respect for Neil, even if his music is not always to my taste.

Re: Bettman Lockout III Thread (aka NHL Offseason: Now & Forever)

I swear I saw Mats Sundin on the subway once coming home from uni, in like 2007. How many other 6'5 bald Swedish guys are there in this city? I glanced over at him and we made eye contact. I acknowledged that he was Mats Sundin and I felt that he acknowledged that I acknowledged who he was. But obviously I didn't go over and talk to him or get his autograph. I let him be. The way it should be.

Just...weird. The stage set-up was paying homage to the Rust Never Sleeps era tours, so they had the ginormous novelty Fender amps behind them and the giant microphone centre stage. Dudes in lab coats and rain jackets running around stage everywhere all night. The show started with O Canada, lol.

As far as the actual setlist was concerned, imo there's a fine line between a tight jam that hits the pocket, and going on forever without any real purpose. Lots of the extended jams last night were, quite frankly, sloppy and pointless. ****in' Up turned into a 20 minute disaster. Before they stared a brief acoustic interlude, the band just played an open E in unison about 50 times before walking off stage. I dunno, strange stuff.

But the show certainly had its moments. After said segue into the acoustic interlude, Neil played The Needle and the Damage Done all by his lonesome and that was incredible, gave me goosebumps. Powderfinger was the 2nd song of the night and they killed it (it's my favourite NY song too). Old standards like Cinnamon Girl and Mr. Soul were pretty fresh. And they closed with Hey Hey, My My and an upbeat version of Helpless as the encore. Can't complain about that...although Down By The River would've been my choice.

I dunno...maybe I'm kinda bummed they weren't all that great, tbh. I was really nervous before I saw The Who in '08 because I didn't want them spoiled for me with a bad performance, but they were incredible. Same thing here; just didn't want Neil ruined for me. My buddy saw Neil on this tour out west and he said it was amazing, but he's more of a Crazy Horse guy and personally I lean towards his Harvest-era stuff, so maybe that was the problem - this was 100% a Crazy Horse show. Meh. Decent show, could've been much better imo, but then again, I should've known what I was signing up for. This wasn't Neil by himself at Massey Hall, this was Neil & Crazy Horse playing for 18,000 people at the ACC.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you and I have similar tastes, I also like the Crazy Horse stuff less than his other work and am not a fan of sloppy pointless jams either.

Did the Sadies open?

No, Los Lobos. And apparently BTO was a surprise opener and played 3 songs or so right at 7:30, but we missed them.
