lol @ calling fehr a notorious season-killer just because he doesn't bend over backwards kowtowing to owners' demands

More importantly can we get your opinion on Colbert's Windsor bit?

i expected fehr to be publicly unreasonable given the mandate of his appointment. but it seems like the league has been more unreasonable in their public posturing (two weeks off from talks, this is our last offer, etc.). who knows what each side is like in the negotiating room, but i've been pleasantly surprised with fehr's handling of things from the pr side.

the demonization of both bettman and fehr is pretty dumb anyhow. the clients bear the biggest responsibility here. on both sides.

So now they're gonna resume talks on Monday after Bettman threatened to just call it off for 2 weeks. PA cracking? Maybe I'm trending too much towards the optimism side, but I say a deal gets done in 2-3 weeks.

daly makes the claim that the PA has presented 5 iterations of the same offer.

we've had supposed leaks of PA and NHL breaks - the one thing I am slightly afraid of is what dutaschek warned of in his piece on Thursday or Friday, that outside of Bettman or Fehr there isn't much of a way to get around them like there was in the past. And Bettman and company don't seem to have an actual concession to give to the players except things that aren't actually concessions.

this

i mean the players are basically bending over backwards already to eat at 12-13% pay cut (or more?) when revenue is at an all-time high, but the owners are going past that, they want blood bc they know they can get whatever it is they want if they just wait as long as possible.

Fehr is obv just down to damage limitation, and that's about it

We need hockey back just to end this thread. In fact, we should forward this thread to the league. They'll feel so bad about what they've done, that **** will get settled tomorrow.

Don't worry his life long slide back to the left will start eventually and in time will leave him... humbled.

But but...

YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS - comparing a labor strike where the workers are basically unskilled to the NHL strike is simply apples and oranges.

But but...

YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS - it's a LOCKOUT or did no one tell you?

Based on what you quoted, he made no such comparison.

Wrong.

btw, really cute, multiquoting me clearing up what program I'm in (which was a retort to an incorrect statement about me being in law school) as if it's some kind of indictment on my character or something.

Yours wasn't that bad, didn't realize who's account it was until after, should've known better. I was just happy I got a chance to post the Chris Jericho link.

I don't think I've brought it up that often, maybe I have. If so, my bad, I'm sorry. But apparently Everlastrr thinks I've flooded the thread about it. Repeatedly quoting one line before every point he found contentious - as if I keep bringing it up incessantly or as if it has any causality whatsoever - was a bit much imo and I didn't like it. Maybe this is my penance for crossing the line last year at the start of the finals, whatever.

This lockout ****ing blows.

The best part is when the lockout does eventually end: we'll go from geddylee bitching to Geddylee bitching... but about the leafs.
