The Winter Classic only works because it happens on January 1 with a giant built-in audience. I very much doubt they will do it on a random February weekend afternoon - that audience just won't be there.

EA's week 2 sim is in!

(actually i think they're ahead of this, bc one of the shows on TSN had some stuff past this point, but i won't spoil it for ya, lol)

http://www.easports.com/nhl/news/art...son-sim-week-2

Week Two (Oct.14-20) Headlines

- The Montreal Canadiens are off to a historic start, starting a season with a 5-0-0 record for the first time ever.
- New York Rangers Captain Ryan Callahan leads the NHL in scoring with eight points (1G, 7A)
The defending Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings start the season with four straight losses.
- Nashville Predators off to hot start, leading the Western Conference with eight points thanks to great goaltending from Pekka Rinne.
- The Washington Capitals remain winless after six games.
- Calgary Flames defenseman Jay Bouwmeester will be out 2-3 months with an undisclosed upper body injury.

Stanley Cup hangover and lolFlames & lolCaps seems legit, but Habs on fire? nahhhhh

i figured this has got to be a mistranslation, but only bothered to read the interview in russian today.

there's so much gold in that interview, but the only statement they chose is that, and do a hatchet job on it. lulz.

- I saw two of his kids. Absolutely white.

I assumed there was lolCanada at play, but I don't speak Russian so I had no means to prove it.

News Roundup:

- if the Islanders didn't have bad luck, they wouldn't have any luck at all. the 12th pick in the 2009 Draft D Calvin de Haan has suffered his 3rd shoulder injury in 3 years and is done for the season. all of that is very not good for them, as chronic shoulder problems always seem to persist.

- the Canucks 2012 1st rounder Brendan Gaunce also separated his shoulder and is out for 3-6 weeks, hopefully it's not too serious.

- Sergei Kostitsyn claims he was misquoted, of course

- Plekanec is feeling the heat:

“When you don’t score for two games, it’s in the papers,” said Plekanec. “Every team basically we play against, if they beat us it’s like they won the Olympics or Stanley Cup almost.”

With teammates like team owner Jaromir Jagr, Tomas Kaberle, Jiri Tlusty, and Marek Zidlicky you can understand why Kladno fans would be so intently focused on how the team is doing. With the team in fifth place right now, you can imagine the press is starting to get a bit grumpy.

- Gilbert Brule was cut by the Swiss team he was playing for, coached by Marc Crawford. he had 0g/6a in 14 games.

- Evander Kane next? 0pts and -4 in 6gp in the KHL, just picked up a 1 game suspension for a head hit. oh and his coach said that Kane is out of shape.

- Tuukka Rask suffered a groin injury, no word yet on the severity.

- Patty O'Kane signs with a Swiss league team

- David Krejci surely the next to claim he was misquoted: “We want to play, we’re the ones who are doing the show in the NHL, but Bettman thinks it makes him. It is unfortunate that the NHL have such a guy. It’s a shame for the entire hockey world. Treats us like animals.”

Anton Khudobin, who seemed like he could be a pretty capable backup, but they're for sure screwed if the lockout ends and Rask is on the shelf for an extended period of time. Remember, Rask had the groin injury last season that kept him out about 5-6 weeks.

Surprised by that Krejci quote lol, he usually doesn't say much of anything, not to the press around here anyways. There's no way that quote was originally in English, right?

Tim Thomas picked a good ****ing year to take off. Leaves the NHL amidst all this chaos and doesn't have to put up with interviews or any bs. I wonder what he's up to. Probably chilling out watching debatez like a mfer. What a boss.

12:01AM EDT October 24. 2012 - With the league's deadline for holding a full season rapidly approaching, the NHL Players' Association offered to get together with NHL officials again on Wednesday.

But deputy commissioner Bill Daly said he didn't see it happening because there was no agenda for the suggested meeting.

"They have rejected our proposal from last Tuesday," Daly said by e-mail. "They don't have a new one to present. What are we meeting about?"
No meeting today
