loria screwed the team, and maybe they could've stuck around now that the canadian dollar is doing so well relative to the american, but it was always going to be tough sledding there.

I'd rather life be hard over there than him get on some 1st place dynasty team and contemplate ditching the NHL (even if it's a slim chance). Worse team means more minutes! I heard he was only getting 6 minutes a game previous to the whole OHL thing. I'm interested to see if he works his way up the lines.

I'm far more excited for the rest of our youngins who get going tomorrow night for OKC. It's not even gonna be fair. 82-0-0-0? Hall had a press conference that said once he's healthy, he will be cleared to join the rest of them down there.

The Nuge will finally get the Calder he deserved last year.

I must own this.

I have a $500 expedia credit, and rather than another trip to Vegas, I'm contemplating a trip to OKC...

That feeling when people use the word "suppose" not realizing it's supposed to be "supposed."

Semi-interesting hockey story up on deadspin tonight.

http://deadspin.com/5950977/how-nhl-...-out-of-hockey

Cliffs: Rich Hammond has been a pretty good and objective blogger for the Kings, another example of the Kings dominating the internet (hello twitter). But he's an NHL employee, and he just interviewed Kevin Westgarth, who was very pro-NHLPA (obviously). NHL asked them to take the interview down, Kings refuse, and now Hammond has quit/been fired. Shame, Hammond is now going to write for the Orange County Register (the worst paper) about USC football (also the worst).

In other Kings news, notable crazy man/possible super villain Larry Ellison wants to buy AEG, which owns the Kings, Staples Center, part of the Lakers, and a ****ton of other stuff. Sounds like AEG is going to be worth somewhere around 10 billion dollars. Whaaaat.

Fun fact: 136 Nhl players are playing Europe in 18 countries and in 21 leagues.

hammond was not fired. he definitely quit for the new job.
kings weren't the villian here, but lol nhl censorship. don't blame hammond for moving on.

I do hope they hire a good replacement. hammond was reliable and updated constantly. had good fan communication. he will be missed.

as puckdaddy's article pointed out, the nhl probably had no choice due to rules about team employees' contact with players during a lockout.

i don't really get that story. he did the interview, the Kings were asked to take it down, they didn't, he quit.

meh

The story is there is no hockey, so any story that involves ice becomes breaking hockey news.

Yeah, he probably did just quit. I suppose I was in more of a conspiracy mood last night, heh. I am surprised the story got picked up by a bunch of news places.

Now I'm just fascinated by the AEG sale.

Did you guys here Jayson Werth troll the NHL in his post-game press conference yesterday?

Pretty obv it was an unintentional troll but the timing of it was pretty perfect

NHL "censorship" is just them going crazy-hard on promoting their product. Similar is done on MLB.com and all the team's baseball sites as well. It's not supposed to be "hard" journalism. There is supposed to be some element of trying to make the team look interesting and the end-result is whether it helps you sell tickets or not...that type of thing.

I interviewed on an NHL team's website a couple weeks ago. We weren't allowed to say the word "lockout" at all. No references in video interview, in articles, etc.

I haven't exactly checked...but if you look all over the place on NHL.com and other teams' official websites I bet you don't find it. If you do...then I guess some teams are abiding by that "request/rule" and others perhaps blowing it off a bit more. I really don't look at the NHL teams' website enough to know for sure. Just know that I was told that the NHL prohibited us from saying it in the interview I did.

But on my own website and my own broadcasts, I'm not in the NHL. Nothing has been said to us. I can say "lockout lockout lockout" over and over for 3 hours straight on the radio if I wanted to (tempting).
