This is something I've been wondering about. How do you NHL regs feel about the current system?

There is no current system.

Apart from that nittery, it sucks. I wrote about it here. 2-2-1-0 favors defensive play for every possible score, especially when it's tied or within a goal late. 3-2-1-0 is the way to go IMO.

Semin too

they have a knack for getting the best out of "flawed" players, their team system, culture, etc. but i guess that'll start to get tested without Lidstrom around anymore, and Datsyuk, Zetterberg, etc all getting older.

3-2-1-0 is inevitable

I'd much rather go 2 - 1 1/3, 2/3, 0 for the sake of keeping a win as 2 points. Otherwise all the records for most points in a season lose merit.

Yep, this should be the way scoring would go. Gives the regulation wins more meaning since overtime in hockey happens more than one would think.

they already lost all merit when losers got 1 point for just getting to OT.

Then bring back ties IMO

**** da shootout

they can do shootouts before the game to determine who gets last change or some BS

they should only have shootouts at charity events or some bull****

Changed my mind. They should go with 2, e^(1/3), pi/3, 0.

Agreed that losing merit is bad. Also agreed that already happened.

36-34-10 is actually viewed as being ABOVE .500. Which is totally lame. Getting 1 point in a game doesn't mean you didn't freaking lose. 36 wins and 44 total losses is not +500. When you have 25 teams out of 30 over .500... Or whatever it is...then something is wrong.

Either 3-2-1-0 or just whoever has the most damn wins. Either one is okay. Current way sucks...still.

how will the leaves record any wins, if you don't score OT losses with imaginary points?

2, 1 CAD/USD + i, 1 CAD/USD - i, 0.

imho.

good times!

Ties aren't so bad but they will never go back to that. 3-2-1 is possible and at least is better than the dumb 2-1-0. And I like to hope that just doing total wins is still a possibility....but probably not.

The other possibility maybe could involve ditching the damn shootout? They're dumb and I'm never going to be a fan. Doing an extended 10 min OT that includes 3-on-3 for the last 5 mins could actually be considered reasonable and would be WAY better than shootouts.

I might have to make my avatar Cece at some point if she makes live shows.

You clearly didn't pay to see 'The Legend of Bagger Vance' in theatres. I still want my $8 back.

Sad day for the Detroit Red Wings.

Budd Lynch, PA Announcer at Joe Louis Arena from 1985-2012 died today at the age of 95. Yes, he was announcing every game at the age of 95. World War II Veteran who lost his right arm in combat, signature voice of Joe Louis Arena.

Rest in Peace Budd.

That is indeed sad. Sorry to hear that, but it sounds like he lived an incredible life.

Despite being a lolFlames fan, Paul Morris echoing through the rafters at Maple Leaf Gardens was still the voice of my childhood and it'll be a very sad day for me when he passes away.
