btw how do you think players go from europe to NHL? They all have contracts here and sign new ones anyway and their clubs only got a small nominal fee

Don't hate on Switzerland brah, places like Geneva, where I live, or Zurich are amongst the best in the world to live in. Moscow is one thing, but why would you go play in the middle of nowhere in Russia lol. Especially if you have a family. Also Swiss league is decent.

Apparently Couture from the Sharks will play for us during the lockout. Maybe Weber from the habs too, which would be awesome since he's Swiss and our league allows us to only have up to 4 foreigners in our roster.

My bad if this has been covered, but what happens to the guys who signed contracts in other leagues, if the lock out ends? Im assuming they would sign contracts w/ contingencies that would allow them to come back to the NHL if the lockout ended, right? For example, malkin isnt fully committed to be in the khl this year, no matter what, right?
NHL players coming to Switzerland during the lockout will fly back to NA as soon as the lockout is over. KHL situation seems trickier though, Ive read that Ovechkin is willing to commit to KHL for the whole season no matter what happens in NA. I find it hard to believe I must say..

Nah, they sign full season contracts, but there is a clause that terminates the contract if the lockout ends.

lol owners
might be for the best if that's the true reality of these markets

like if places like Nashville can't break even unless they sell out every game and win the SC, then the system might need an overhaul

but instead they'll prob just lock the players out until they get 50+% of the money, so that the crap markets can make money, and the big markets can make A LOT of money

Alexander Radulov went to the KHL while still under contract to the Predators and the KHL did nothing about it, so I have no problem with players skipping out on the KHL as soon as the lockout ends.

If they offer him a 15M 1 year deal, why not. As long as it's in a decent city with decent security + travel.
Not like the Caps are gonna win a Cup with or without him.

Yeah I get that but I would assume Ovie, because of his contract with the caps, HAS to go back to Washington as soon as the lockout is over. I mean Washington can't force him to go back when the season is finally starting? How different is it than if the season had started on time contract/agreement wise?

So they make an agreement to resume Ovie's contract where it left off. What are they going to do, void it?

Well, some would argue that based on last season it wouldn't be so bad to void his contract and get two players just as good for the same price! Or more seriously, in some cases the franchise could be unhappy that their player are one year older than planned toward the end of the agreement.

Dunno, I just feel strange Ovie could decide to say **** it im staying in Russia for the season, deal with it, and see it happening just like that

According to this quote from a usually good hockey blog he did say to "sovsport" that he would commit to KHL for the whole season. Not saying it's credible, but this is what it says FWIW

i can't read that gibberish, but is there even a quote in there or is it a paraphrase? i don't see quotation marks in it.

the translated quote i have seen is:
Quote:
If the League [NHL] continues to insist on their [demands], then it will take a full year. That's because we are not going to cave in. Then I will spend the entire season in the KHL. It's an absolute reality.

Yeah WTF. Allaire was around just long enough to ruin Gustavsson's career. Now that Gus is gone, Allaire decides he's done enough damage and leaves. **** off Allaire.
