Chris Therien tweeted, "Just talked to somebody very close to the union side and was informed that hockey will not be played for an awful long time at NHL level."

Watching some of this '87 Canada Cup game on TSN.

Amazing how tiny the goalies were, and how little of the goal they covered.

And who the **** is Normand Rochefort?

Henrik - Maybe you should review my posts as well as TJay's in that other thread.

Hammer - 11:59pm on Saturday or 12:01am on Sunday or however the heck you prefer to think of it. Most people who are out drinking or partying at 12:01am typically don't refer to it as "Sunday morning."

Yeah, that sucks. I trust Therien's insight, opinion and his contacts. Arrgh.

In other news, I believe some player transactions will be coming up in the next couple days. Any player that is going to be sent to the AHL during this nonsense has to be assigned to that team before the lockout...otherwise they are part of the lockout.

So guys like Nugent-Hopkins, Sean Couturier, etc who are able to play in the AHL without having to clear waivers I believe are all likely to get officially assigned to their new teams.

i thought it was Milledgeville?

apparently the Canucks front office staff eating a 20% pay cut and work a 4-day week due to the lockout. these small market teams just can't put up with the cost i guess...

if that's how it is, some of these other teams might as well just send everyone home.

Lol. Funnily enough about half of Midland's population flees to Waterloo for the academic months.

I wonder if there is any correlation there...

BTW Goofy, my girl broke up with me last night.. "I just don't know if I want to make the time commitment to be in a long distance relationship right now, I'm in 4th year out here with all my friends" and "yes I was excited in the summer when you said you'd come visit, but, just not anymore." bla bla bla I'm just getting used to it at this point.

Meh, that list was absolute bunk. They chirped the Leafs' community involvement, which is just ridiculous; you can say a lot about the evil empire - and a lot of it is true - but MLSE and the Team Up Foundation do a ton of charity work in the GTA and they help out a lot of underprivileged and afflicted families in the area. Far more than franchises who are hemorrhaging money so badly, they need to scale back those efforts considerably.

Very true. Got my '89 Stanley Cup VHS converted to DVD last week. Might give that a whirl a few hundred times.

I taped some of the games from the '04 WCF, I can make you a copy if you'd like.

That list was embarrassing.

Random dart-throwing would have produced a better order.

Arena experience should at least consider overall atmosphere as well as tradition. Oh noez, the fans at Yankee Stadium aren't friendly, not worth going to. Oh yay, the fans at the Phoenix Coyotes are nice and they have ample parking...Best Sports Experience Ever!! (even in a November regular season game with entirely empty sections)

The entire Coyotes game experience was pretty cool though, I have to say that much. Amazing facility, it's a shame that it'll be vacant in a couple seasons. Highly recommend a road trip to Glendale for a game to see your team before they move.

According to the list, Montreal was the 16th best game experience in the league. Like, serious lulz.

Geddy, second part is my point. Montreal is kind of an iconic place to see a freaking game ldo.

Phoenix has had a lot of games with almost nonexistent attendance. That does not make a quality arena experience.

Sup guys. I am in Marrakech and I just saw a probable european guy wearing a douchy straight-bill NYR hat (he did not get my rick nash joke) and a berbere guy begging for change on the street wearing Rbk hockey cap (I did not give him anything because of the boycott obv).

peace out.

wasn't it more about fan involvement, saying that the team just bleeds them dry and gives nothing back?

and to both points, it seemed like "bang for your buck" was a big factor...
