doan will be 36 before this 4-year deal kicks in. someone where the window is now, sure they are getting a nice winger for $8m. but they are going to be paying for it in the last two years of his contract.

Doan agreed to a deal with the Coyotes when they get a new owner or something like that. Haven't followed their situaish at all.

It'd only be $6m/yr, not $8m. And I think you should ask Grind if he'd trade the 2010 rangz to avoid the capocalypse that ensued. New York's window is definitely now, and I think Dolan n' co. would be okay with eating some bad contract money in a couple years if it means it brings home a championship. We're not talking about the Sabres here, who are still miles away from contending; that was the best example of a foolish Doan offer.

I mean, I know we love to poo poo the Rags here, but they've added Nash without having to move either Kreider or Hagelin, their blueline will be healthy right from the get-go this season and if they added Doan up front...would anyone care to give me a different #1 in their East power rankings?

Doan would certainly help the Rangers, but I don't think he puts them over the top. Not giving up Hagelin or Kreider is nice, but keep in mind that Dubinsky and Anisimov were both capable of playing tough minutes and Driving Play™. Also, I'm no CBA expert but if the cap ends up rolling back to the $60M range, I don't think I like giving 10% of my cap to Shane Doan. Obviously it would be less bad if they still have the inflator going on, but again I don't know how that's going to work.

Re: East power rankings, I'd put Pittsburgh and Boston ahead of the Rangers.

Doan and Nash together put any team over the top. Especially one that already has Richards, Gaborik, Lundqvist, Staal, etc... you're talking about adding 2 guys who are consistently impact players and play drivers at both the NHL and international level. They are 2 guys that would have been the biggest trade deadline deals the past 2-3 years. They are both first line players on most teams in the NHL... adding them to a team that was already 1st overall in the east and made the ECF... Nash is a sick addition. If they get Doan too, they'd be a RANG favorite vs the field imo.

Just front load the Doan contract, then send him back to Phoenix wherever Phoenix moves too for the last 2 years

meh, i'm kinda really looking forward to seeing what Nash does this year, really is a big season for him, will be a lot of expectations and all that. kinda excited to see what he can/will do now that he's playing with a lot of good players on a good team, given that Nash has played very well when this has happened in the past (small sample obv). anyone not taking a wait & see approach and judging him on his lolColumbus numbers might be doing it wrong. i'm guessing he had been mentally checked out there for quite a while now, say what you will about that.

Haven't really been following the lockout... Is it pretty much looking like the season will not start on time, if at all?

Was all over ckwn (980am) radio in van today for the youhavetwoweeks.com site. An independent channel (that somehow has ties to CBC?) in Victoria is running a clip tonight with Skype footage of another member of our team. Still no twitter explosion

Mirtle tells me contract terms need to be capped because only rich teams can afford them.

Yeah. Uh huh. And...?

If sopel counts then 1! Lots of beat reporters, sports media, and Indy media interested though. Biggest boost came from adrien dater (sp? On phone) @adater. SI.com guy who wrote the Detroit/Colorado blood bath book.

Comparing the 2012-2013 Rangers if they add Doan to the 09-10 Hawks is a stretch - Chicago that year was probably the 2nd best team since the lockout. Even with Doan I think New York is behind Pittsburgh and Boston if we grant all three teams full health.

Figure out their twitter handles.

Then go onto twitter and type: "@XXXXX @Youhavetwoweeks youhavetwoweeks.com MESSAGE"

Where XXX is their twitter handle and MESSAGE is whatever you wanna say about how incredibly awesome our site is.

I think you can figure out the twitter handle by either typing their name into Twitter, or googling "Paul Bisonette Twitter"

If you don't have twitter, you'll need to sign up. You can also just give them our twitter address (@youhavetwoweeks) and the website some other way and ask them to tweet it.
