To those who weren't watching already, I highly recommend tuning into the Canada-Russia Challenge on Monday when they play game 3 in Halifax. The first two games were surprisingly really awesome for August hockey and both federations sent the A squads. Game 2 also got pretty ugly, Mark Scheifele got tossed for a borderline hit and there was plenty of bad blood for the rest of the night. The final 2 games should be fun.

How would that even work though unless we introduce another (flawed) simulation? It's especially tough when you introduce a salary cap into the equation. Do you draft each player assuming their current cap hit stays the same for their entire career, where the strategy then becomes to farm players on first or second contracts?

It's been too long since the last draft and things are slow on the NHL reg front so I'm down for anything. Another modern era draft sounds good. Looking back, I made some really terrible picks in the last one.

yeah, pretty shocking indeed...

reminds me of this site i used to post on, back in the early days of the internet (when having a website gave you credibility, wtf?) these regs there made up fake rumours all the time, and actually hooked one good with a fake trade involving a goalie from Philly (Cechmanek?) which got enough steam to get comments from Bobby Clarke, the goalie, his brother back in Europe, maybe his agent, etc. was pretty funny. (all iirc)

but back to this one, lol @ the comment:
