Howson is now in Matt Millen territory. Unbelievable. Great grab for New York though.

lol. There's a reason teams weren't offering premier pieces for Rick Nash. Turns out, the Rangers gave them some highly undervalued ones they will miss. We'll see if they can run hot to the conference finals again.

Confirmed Howson gets hosed.
NYR don't give up MDZ, Kreider, Stephan, McDonagh or Staal

Last edited by thejayman; 07-23-2012 at 03:10 PM. Reason: forgot Staal. LOL Howson

rangers also get an "unknown ahl'er" and a 3rd rounder

dolan will probably have a wreath laying ceremony on opening night for the unknown ahl'er and his numberless jersey will be raised to the garden rafters for eternity

rangers lose this deal but not by much, they assume a lot of risk and give up some pretty safe players too. shame is they still have plenty of prospects to cover up for this if it is a mistake.

I wonder what Holland's "hell of an offer" was then?

It had to be better then what CBJ got from the Rangers.

Can't confirm it, but a friend of mine was adamant he heard that an offer of Franzen, Filppula, Helm, and a first didn't even get a call back from Howson.

Haha no way.

If that were any way true Howson should be lynch mobbed by the CBJ fans

deal is pretty good for Rangers, their window is 2 years and they need to score, Dubinsky and Anisimov weren't helping gonna learn to score anytime soon. Erixon I kinda had hopes for.

the weeping for Anisimov at all is amusing he was exiled to the 3rd and 4th lines for half the season for enigmaticy

A guy in my keeper league has both anisimov and dubinsky. Suicide watch is at an orange warning level.

he should be thrilled since there's a >0 chance they'll become top liners in CBS and a 0 chance they would have in NY in the next couple years

Gaborik - NASH All over rated and wayyyyyyyyyyyyy overpaid

Getting to the point you just can't buy a Stanley Cup in this day and age.
WTF. Not sure how NYR is getting around the Cap To pay out the salary they do.
12 mil a year should be lighting it up like Gretzky.

The owners need to be talking to the Owners of the haves about their silly spending ways.

His contract is front loaded. The cap hit is 6.7 million. Pretty sure almost every team would take him with that cap hit, if they wanted to pay his salary.

I would not pay $6.7M for an aging 66 points.

BOOM, great deal for rangers and a meh deal for CBJ imo. Columbus needed a star player to come back in return to fill the hole Nash left. How they gonna sell tickets now?

Who cares, they weren't getting a star player back for Nash - if the team is somehow good, people will show.

I think 100k per point is the going rate for forwards. I'm sure when he stops producing, they will send him to the farm like Redden or trade him to Montreal for a blue chip prospect.
