Apparently Save Glendale Now didn't have a proper petition serial number and that was the biggest factor in the rejection - L O ****ing L

It's actually pathetic how much this is going to cripple that community and how unwilling the main players are to accept defeat. And for what? To play a few more seasons until Jamison realizes the predicament he's presented with in order to keep the Coyotes in Phoenix/Glendale is financial suicide?

Does anyone actually still believe this franchise can survive given the current framework?

Having Paulina Gretzky masturbate at center ice during intermission's would save the franchise

Also, great pic of Chris Breen (6'7" 224 lbs.) and Johnny Gaudreau (5'6", 151 lbs.) at Flames Prospect Development Camp:

Gaudreau is apparently tearing up the camp and looking like Theo v.2.0.

One of the stranger stories today, Tim Stapleton is KHL bound. I've seen differing treatments of this. It's hard to imagine nobody in the NHL wanting a shot like that.

A guy made a really apt comment on the TSN article about Stapleton signing with Dinamo Minsk; he's clearly underappreciated over here and he's got an opportunity to set himself up financially over the next couple of seasons, so I'm happy he's looking after himself.

Dinamo Minsk's coach is also a Finlander - Kari Heikkila - who was coaching in SM-Liiga during the two seasons Stapleton absolutely crushed with Jokerit, before he signed with the Leafs in '08. There's probably some familiarity there.

I just think there are lots of teams who aren't comfortable with Stapleton playing as a bottom six pivot and don't think he's good enough to play as a top six guy at this level. Makes it tough to find a spot for him, even if he's coming off a pretty good season with Winnipeg. Kinda surprised a team that utilizes more of a top 9 concept, a la Detroit, couldn't find a use for him.

What's the difference between buying a plane ticket in the US and buying one in Russia?

Spoiler:
In the US they give you the option to buy a return ticket

Also, I was just thinking about this tonight - Detroit has a ton of cap space, they were clearly interested in adding an elite top six forward due to their involvement in the Parise sweepstakes and there's one who's still left on the market. They've also been at the forefront of recruiting and enlisting Russian players over the last 2 decades.

Said unsigned forward has played at multiple major international tournaments with Pavel Datsyuk, who should probably have a pretty good handle on what kind of a guy he is and how he'd fit into the dressing room where he's become the new franchise centerpiece.

If the Wings haven't locked up Semin already, and it looks as if Holland has very little interest in doing so, maybe it really is just a case of the guy being a really big flake and league-wide fears are justified? I can't really think of a better situation for Semin than Detroit (maybe Pittsburgh) and it's just not happening for whatever reason.

I just realized something. Why hasn't Yakupov signed an ELC yet?

The Nuge and Hall were signed like 3 days after the draft.

Is it possible that Oilers brass are waiting for the new CBA because the ELC hit might go down?

Yeah Paulina posted a bunch of pics with her, Stoll and the cup on instagram a few weeks ago when he had his day with the cup.

I mean, if you're Stoll, you definitely sit Paulina's ass in the top of the cup and bang her in the cup, right? Like there's no point in living if you have the Stanley Cup and Wayne Gretzky's daughter together and don't bang her on top of the cup.

Paging Triumph, atak, others like that

Can someone who actually knows about money and stuff reason with me about the Ryan Suter signing? The dude's stats are totally average. I never thought he was that good of a defenseman. Like 40ish points, maybe +15 or +20. Seems like a completely average player. Like your typical 2nd or 3rd best defenseman on any given team, but not really your #1 franchise player or all star.

How on earth do you justify giving him $98M/13 years and giving him $12M/year for the first 2 years???? Like seriously. This is probably the worst free agent signing I've ever seen.

Someone please tell me something that makes sense.

Sorry, this is the first time I've gotten home to full internet since like June 20ish.

Like I mean Dion Phaneuf is complete crap and I'd still take him over Ryan Suter. Jay Bouwmeester is probably better too. I'd take Bryan Campbell, Danny Boyle, Keith Yandle over Suter any day. And I'm not even mentioning the guys who are obviously 100% better like Chara, Weber, Keith, Seabrook, Bieksa, Letang, etc.

Like I doubt Ryan Suter is even a top 20 dman in the NHL. He's probably comparable to a Dennis Wideman, who at $5.2M is overpaid. I just don't ****ing understand this at all.

Like legit I'd take Mark Giordano over Ryan Suter.

Ryan Suter is a top 10 dman in the league IMO. I don't see him being below a number 2 on really any teams other than maybe Chicago.

Even if Suter is a top 10 in the league (which I do not believe is the case...) what does that value the clear top 2 dmen in the league at? Like are Weber/Chara worth $200M/15 years then?

And if you're valuing players by their actual VALUE to the team. ie: Most VALUABLE player. Then how much are guys who can carry an entire team, like Lundqvist, Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos worth? Infinite money/infinite years? Like seriously this is ****ing ridiculous. I know Crosby wanted $8.7M/year, but if Suter's value is $98M/13 years, then surely Crosby has like 4 or 5 times as much VALUE to a team as Suter does? Then that would put Crosby's true market value at like $500M/13 years.
