If they were in the east, they'd have a playoff spot locked up for 10 years easily. However, the west is super competitive. Look at how many great nashville teams missed the playoffs.

Teams in the west at 9-11 have been better than most teams in the east at 7-8 the past 4 years.

The Preds have missed the playoffs only once in the last 8 seasons.

But there team that year was better than the team that the Wangz have on paper right now was my point.

Also true of teams in 9th place the past 3 years in the west.

confirm or deny?

"Look at how many" = 1

Flames have been right in that mix between 9th and 11th over the last 3 seasons and I don't think they've been a worthy playoff team at all.

eller signed 1.3m per year x 2 years with the habs.

He'll be a premiere shut down centre in the league in the years to come. With a touche of offensive flair ala Jordon Staal.

But there is a reason why he's making $1.3m and not 2.5m+. He'll be more like Manny Maholtra than Ryan Kessler.

re: Red Wings

was looking at them yesterday, kinda thinking this could be the end of an era as far as them being a team with decent SC equity every year. i mean Lidstrom is gone, most of their other core guys are getting older, especially their two stars in Datsyuk & Zetterberg. after that they have what, Franzen & Kronwall to build around? and i just noticed that Filppula, Cleary, White, & Howard are all UFA next summer. i know they have money now, but they're gonna have to use a lot to retain those guys next year (esp JIMMAH with how all the goalies are getting paid now). some ppl seem to think they have a decent group of prospects in wait, but idk.

anyway, i don't expect a true return to the Dead Things era any time soon, as long as ownership is willing to spend around the cap ceiling to fill holes, but they might be more of the team that finished 5th in the conference last year, than one that wins their division every year.

Seeing the Wangs go through what they are going through makes me happy. I thoroughly enjoying the Devils being mediocre for the past X years after being legit contenders for so long.

I really hope Montreal's suckage period is a short one here and we bounce back to 8th place quickly and then move up to 4-5th within a year.

I'm hoping Galchenyukis going to be the real deal and Montreal's first legit first line Centre is 20+ years.

That's his hometown + it's the CUP. People were watching the playoffs in the middle of the night. Slovenia probably had higher tv ratings than the state of New Jersey.

Most successful Slovene athlete ever. (Vujacic won earlier but he was a scrub)
Kopi's dad is head coach of the national team, so it's sort of a family affair as well.

Just arrived in downtown Chicago; if anyone's watching the Jays-Sox series over the weekend, I'll do my best to get a geddyfistpump.gif going after a J-Bau bomb.
