There are no bar fights in Winnipeg unless they involve a gun or a bat and death, so they're exceedingly rare.

I remember Wayne Gretzky at the mall and pre-teen Beliebers, but mostly folks flash celebrities a knowing smile and go on with their day.

I don't know how anyone can pick out a hockey player in a crowd since helmuts became mandatory.

.
He's been kicked out of Whiskey Dix alone countless times. He tries to act like he's the most important person in the room and the bouncers have shown him multiple times they don't really care.

Not to mention the fact that RNH, Eberle, Hall, and Landeskog all had another (long) off season to bulk up.

Calgary has that kid Baertschi who only played 6 games last year but is going to be an immediate impact this year. I've seen RNH in a WHL series against the Oil Kings, and I've seen Baertschi in a WHL series against a much better Oil Kings the next year. They both were men playing with boys, but Baertschi was something special.

Not to mention Van is getting rid of some dead weight with Roberto "Riot" Luongo AND Sami "Out 3-4 Weeks" Salo.

Every team is coming back stronger, with the Oilers and Wild coming back as 2 entirely different teams. The Oil are still 1-2 pieces away from being a division favourite, but noone is looking past that team right now.

Should be some exciting hockey this year that noone on the East coast will get to see!
So you're saying it went from the worst division in hockey to average?

Mostly suck so those pick have a lot of theoretical value.
Moreover, if we’re wiling to match up to at-least 6.5 then it means we getting at least 4 good picks. It also means there a slight possibility someone offers 7.835 (albeit minimal).

Drawbacks are we might be forced to match a 7m if the management is ******ed.

But honestly i’m fine with someone letting another team overpay while simultaneously getting fairly compensated.

We are not going anywhere in the next two years (with gionta gomez markov and karble on the cap). Might as well help us tank for a deep draft. And either take a flyer on a guy like Jonathan Bernier for a more favorable cap hit, or go for a buy low on a guy like Luongo. Hell, I would have been fine with signing Vokoun for 1-2 years.

I love Carey. He is good. But he’s also got a propensity to leave an easy one in for every miracle save he makes. He hasn’t done anything yet deserving of being paid 6.5m as an rfa imo. I like the value of the other alternative better.
None of those teams would ever give up those sort of picks to sign Price.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see you included Toronto.

So if he sucks we dump him in 2 years, and if he's an NHLer we have his rights as a 24 year old defenceman. We have the cap space to spare for the next 2 years, so his hit doesn't really matter.

I guess I worded it wrong. The RFA rights in 2 years is what makes him so valuable.

There's a reason 10 teams flew to Toronto for this kid.

Basically. I am worried that the closer skill levels might jeopardize our division's president's trophy streak.

I dunno...a guy like Wayne Simmonds has to be included for sure, and then gimme a defenceman. Simmonds and Grossmann. I have no clue, trading Bouwmeester is just idiotic, even though the market will probably never be higher for him than right now.

You dont get rewarded in anyway by being under the cap, unless your the owner and care about saving some money. The only excuse i can think of for holland, is that the owner would be telling him not to spend as much as he should?

The only positive way to spin it, is that the wings have some room to take on salary in a trade next year, but even then you have to give up assets, which sucks. I have a feeling that the wings will be forced to offer some absurd amount for nash and/or weber, sometime this year.

Also, due to incompetence in the front office, who are all these young prospects who are going to step up next year?

unnecessary when you have Kronwall, Ericsson, White, Quincey, Smith, & Kindl

wait, wut?

but seriously i'm guessing they're going to be pretty active in the trade market, maybe there's legs to prospects (ppl keep saying they have good ones, idk about that but it's possible) for Bouwmeester? they could have Ballard if they want, lol. who else is available for cheap/free?

remaining UFA D: Hannan, Martinek, Rozsival, Kubina, Colaiacovo, Jurcina, B.Clark, Barker, Gilroy, Campoli, Taormina, A.Johnson, LEBDA, Gragnani, Spacek, Eaton, Foster, HUSKINS, Flood, C.White, R.Jones, Jannik, Mottau, Chorney...yeah, you get the point

some of those guys could make ok signings.

still also think it makes some sense for them to take a run at Semin. if he'll flourish anywhere, it could be Detroit. but i guess they do have like 15 forwards under contract already... (well maybe not, ~9 lock legit guys, rest are prospect/filler types?)

uh, it's not like training camp starts tomorrow. the wings have some very good prospects and figure to make a trade or two
