Hopefully the owners stay for more than 15 mins after a counter-proposal this time.

yeah, whatever it is, the league will be infuriated at the backward movement, or something like that.

Here come the leaks...

Ken Campbell ‏@THNKenCampbell
Being told that, as part of a counter proposal, NHLPA will try to make future expansion and relocation fees part of hockey related revenue

This is a fun thing to add to the mix now.

Is Chris Campoli going to get a contract based on being part of these negotiations?

It seems like precarious timing to me too. Unless this isn't seen as a major obstacle (I have no clue anymore), I thought we were well past the point of ****ing around now.

I have my doubts on the viability of expansion but I have a hard time envisioning the next decade sans at least one relocation.

I'm absolutely SHOCKED that a team with Joe Thornton lost a championship game, after winning that same championship last year without him.

Should negotiations go south on Monday, the union will have another option to explore. The NHLPA has until Wednesday to file a disclaimer of interest, which would essentially dissolve the union and allow players to file an antitrust suit in court.
Filing the disclaimer of interest goes straight to the union decertifying right? Or is there another step in between? Basically, we should have an idea by Wednesday whether or not a new CBA deal is gonna get done?

I know it's New Years Eve, but all I wanna do is lace up the skates and play some puck right now.

That place in Bel-Air (Ice World?). I can meet you in MD somewhere if you don't wanna drive to DE. Not sure what my school schedule is yet but if they have something at like 6-8 I should be able to make it.

No - disclaiming interest and decertifying are two different things - the union would cease to exist, but would become a 'trade association', and the PA could file antitrust lawsuits against the NHL. (I had to look this up - have a hard time keeping it straight myself).

So do Canadians celebrate New Year's Day today, or a month earlier than everyone else like they do with Thanksgiving?

The Canadian envy is so awesome, I feel like the hot girl in grade 5 that all the boys make fun and aren't sure why she makes their junk feel funny.
