A politician told me the NHL lockout will go well into next season. This was a well respected politician who told me so I'm sure it's a reliable source.

If Gary Bettman is keeping Stephen Harper in the loop, I think that would be hilarious.

"Mr. Prime Minister, you've got Netanyahu on line one asking for your support. Bettman is on line two with a lockout update!"

"Tell Israel to call back!!"

hmm yeah, cause i'm real sure that Harper is integral to the Mideast peace process...

whatever, let's just drop it then bc obv the NHL is of no importance to Canadian government, or a PM who makes a point of showing up to like a hockey game per week as a photo op

Just my weekly I'M SO SICK OF HEARING ABOUT THE ****ING CBA NEGOTIATIONS IN THE MEDIA post. No one gives a **** if you're giving $100M or $150M or 1% or 2%. Just tell me when hockey is back and until then **** off.

Apologies to all the loyal, passionate fans out there. We clearly do not have a willing negotiating partner.

As far as the actual setlist was concerned, imo there's a fine line between a tight jam that hits the pocket, and going on forever without any real purpose. Lots of the extended jams last night were, quite frankly, sloppy and pointless. ****in' Up turned into a 20 minute disaster. Before they stared a brief acoustic interlude, the band just played an open E in unison about 50 times before walking off stage. I dunno, strange stuff.

But the show certainly had its moments. After said segue into the acoustic interlude, Neil played The Needle and the Damage Done all by his lonesome and that was incredible, gave me goosebumps. Powderfinger was the 2nd song of the night and they killed it (it's my favourite NY song too). Old standards like Cinnamon Girl and Mr. Soul were pretty fresh. And they closed with Hey Hey, My My and an upbeat version of Helpless as the encore. Can't complain about that...although Down By The River would've been my choice.

I dunno...maybe I'm kinda bummed they weren't all that great, tbh. I was really nervous before I saw The Who in '08 because I didn't want them spoiled for me with a bad performance, but they were incredible. Same thing here; just didn't want Neil ruined for me. My buddy saw Neil on this tour out west and he said it was amazing, but he's more of a Crazy Horse guy and personally I lean towards his Harvest-era stuff, so maybe that was the problem - this was 100% a Crazy Horse show. Meh. Decent show, could've been much better imo, but then again, I should've known what I was signing up for. This wasn't Neil by himself at Massey Hall, this was Neil & Crazy Horse playing for 18,000 people at the ACC.
Kinda naive of you

Im glad i dont live in Canada for that reason. This thread is my only source to hockey at the moment.

So what does everyone think the chance is for the rest of the season getting cancelled? (apart from 50/50 obviously)

I'm in Canada and don't hear that much about the lock out except in this thread and when I go play my own hockey. With no hockey, I have no reason to watch TSN.

still think it's pretty likely they play some kind of shortened season this year, given that it seems like the owners can get a pretty sweet deal whenever they want it. i don't think we're quite in the danger period yet, i guess they're still trying to squeeze every last dollar out of the players here.

i mean if they reach an agreement in the next week or two they're playing by xmas

what's the cutoff point to getting at least 40-50 games in, T, et al? playing by January?

WTF? Prob like 1-2%. If they blow a whole season over $182m, lol @ them. Seriously, how is that even possible? Isn't that how much revenue they would generate in like a month?

I tend to agree with Pierre Lebrun's tweets, ignore the media BS, they are getting closer for a fact, hockey by mid-late December imo if they don't act like children.

Poor choice of words on my part. Largely ignore (or take with a grain of salt) what the PA and NHL is telling the media. What I'm referencing are his original thoughts and also just the facts of the proposal. $182m apart. They generated 3.3b in revenue last season.

League had 48 game season in 1995 with an agreement signed around mid-January - can't imagine that it goes that long with how close they are getting. I think there's a 60 game or so season starting in mid to late December.
