+1

The idea that players could get less than 50% in a free market ... all I can say is WTF?

The owners are the ones trying to put rules in place that prevent them from paying players whatever they want to pay. They know that if they have that freedom they will pay out way more than they are paying now.

I don't know how anyone can sympathize with the owners.

Crosby's quote

"Guys aren't going to give in when it comes to contract stuff. It's not going to happen," Crosby said. "It doesn't have anything to do with (money)"

Ok Sid

The longer it draws out who will end up losing more?

Which side ends up losing more is an interesting question.

If revenue is split 50-50 then both sides lose about the same amirite?

But if there are 25 or so players for every owner, the owners individually take a bigger hit. Then again, the owners are richer so better able to withstand the hit. Then again, some owners are corporations which is a different situation altogether.

In general, marginal utility for $1 to the player who needs to fill the gas tank on his ski boat > marginal utility of $1 to an owner who wipes his ass with hundos

You know what the best part of the lockout is?

I'm not being dragged into any discussions about why Ottawa's 4th line winger isn't scoring enough, or how the 7th defenceman doesn't move the puck very well.

First time I have heard this could go into next season? If the players can hang on that long than they have a chance at breaking the owners

That's not even fair. 72off was just teeing up the Sorting Hat.

(in before "teeing up" is sorted to the Edmonton Oilers again)

Stephen Colbert cut an amazing segment on Canada and the city of Windsor tonight. Everyone should go watch it (his whole show is on http://www.colbertnation.com/ or http://www.thecomedynetwork.ca/shows/TheColbertReport if you're in Canada).

sorting hat should only be used on (new) posters without an affiliate team.

It's lockout season, don't think we're getting many of those types in this thread anytime soon.

A hockey bar opened 3 block away. Went today for the super series game.

Poutine sucks. Calgary beef is ok.

Possibly going to be hockey-themed trivia master in the future.

Describe the poutine.

More info on everything, please.

What is Calgary beef?
