Would the most eloquently worded troll tweet in the world induce a serious response?

The 2004-05 season was canceled on February 16, 2005. So I would say right around then. There will have been many, many NHL games played by February 16, 2013.

Related, something that I had forgotten - tens years earlier the 94/95 lockout ended Jan 11th, and they were playing 9 days later. Still no need to be near the cliff yet.

Not really hockey related, but the Jay and Dan podcast is incredible. 6 episodes in, new ones weekly. Go download them.

Who's watching Oshewa vs. Guelph on NHL Network in the States?

Pretty solid fight in the early 2nd period.

They're a runaway freight train right now. Very curious to see where they are in a few years.

I forgot to post my rumour from last night.

At about 9pm, I was almost run off the road by a BMW speeding towards the MTS Iceplex. That car was followed shortly by at least a couple of high-powered trucks.

So my brother ended up taking the trip up to Peterborough with the McMaster team this weekend for a two game set with Trent University. Their first game tonight was severely delayed for the worst reason possible and what will probably be my nightmare when I eventually have kids in minor hockey: a Minor Midget AAA game between Peterborough and Ajax was suspended after a player collapsed on the ice with an apparent heart attack. Paramedics used the defibrillator and he was taken to hospital; my brother said no one really knew if he was revived or not. I'll be checking the news tomorrow and I'm praying for good news.

One thing about the minor hockey network up in our country is that we have an incredible knack to rally together when one of our communities suffers hardship. It's one of the most inspiring pillars of our game and I know a lot of people will be offering their support, regardless of the outcome. I know it's not too popular on 2p2 to talk about faith, but if you are so inclined, share a prayer for the kid tonight, who is probably fighting for his life.

I'm pretty rattled right now, thinking that message could've been about my brother. I just can't imagine having your life taken away doing something you love so much, especially at the age of 15. Here's hoping he keeps fighting.

That's awful.

Underlying heart conditions are scary. I can only hope that if I have one I'm not in the middle of nowhere when it decides to introduce itself.

That's awful geddy. I am coaching 6 year olds right now, and they pretend to be hurt all the time. I still can't get used to that. One kid LOVES going over the handlebars on hockey stops and then just lays on the ice dmsaying he sees butterflies. JFC, don't scare anyone like that!!!

Btw, Lev Praha is playing Slovan Bratislava on the usual Internet streams right now. Big euro club rivalry in the making. Chara v Satan.

Chara just leveled Satan in open ice. Play had to be stopped to let Satan get to the bench. Slovakian national team camp is going to be awkwaaaaarrrddd.

Lololol. Sekera realizes that he is 6th skater on the ice but too far from his bench. So he jumps onto the opponent's bench. Hilarity ensues, he gets 2 minutes anyway.

That's so scary. I envision this scenario a lot when I'm around the rink. I'm trained on a AED (defibrillator) and have my advance medical first responder certification. I was happy to see that my local rural rink actually has an AED on the wall by the dressing rooms. I'm not getting any younger and each year the risk goes up that something like this will happen.

I was doing some first aid coverage for some kids football this summer. There were typically a couple of minor injuries/complaints a game. Most them little kid, not really hurt type stuff.

Some of the coaches and parents would just basically tell the kids to suck it up and the girls I was working with did not like that at all. I had to explain to them that typically the parents and coaches will have a much better idea about if it's real or not based on the kids history and hopefully respond appropriately. You can't baby every 10 year old's complaint.

Ya scary stuff. I'm pretty sure defibrillators are in damn near every rink nowadays. I've even seen them at a ton of softball diamonds.

Defibs are required for rinks that host usahockey tournaments. That was covered in my coaching clinic.

he said the paramedics used the defib, so they obv would have brought one with them. But, like TJay said, most community centres probably have them these days.
