Perhaps I misinterpreted your comment, but the way I read it, you said "there'll always be owners available, wealth is funneling towards .1% of income earners." If wealth is funneled, suggesting there's a surplus of people available to replace oligarchs seems counterintuitive.

I think we're getting lost in semantics here - at least I fully admit I am - but I just don't believe the availability of owners' resources should be taken for granted. Economic climates aren't static and priorities are always subject to change.

Just remove the competitive business money making machine from competitive sports and you'd never see a lockout again. So simple.

Same reason the rio makes 10 Brazilian dollars every summer when the players could just rent a convention center and play rake free (minus costs) poker. Someone's gonna profit when something that size needs to be organized.

What we need is competition. Go KHL go. Maybe a NA league like the WHA can pop up again.

But that's not evenly distributed across all franchises. Isn't that just the megapowers bringing up the total for everyone?

Forbes contends there's really only three teams (Leafs, Canadiens and Rangers) making real money.
