What are the odds that the NHL gets locked out for not only this year, but into next year as well?

If it was locked out for 2 entire seasons, would the league just fold?

A part of me hopes there is no NHL this year and it suffers so that it realizes it can't keep doing this to the fans. I also hope that somehow this destroys Bettman's career

Mark Cuban or someone rich and awesome and good at business like him just needs to make the.."NHL2" and steal away all the NHL's players.

I bet he could make the game soooo much better.

Hammonds arrangement was that he could write what he wanted, without team interference. once the nhl stepped in, that was gone. sounds like he had a standing offer, and bailed rather than fight.

And the Westgarth interview (Westie is the King most involved adn knowledgeable about cba) is gone.

For any gamblers, OKC over 5.0 at -135 is 100% free money.

Cliffs: Rich Hammond has been a pretty good and objective blogger for the Kings, another example of the Kings dominating the internet (hello twitter). But he's an NHL employee, and he just interviewed Kevin Westgarth, who was very pro-NHLPA (obviously). NHL asked them to take the interview down, Kings refuse, and now Hammond has quit/been fired. Shame, Hammond is now going to write for the Orange County Register (the worst paper) about USC football (also the worst).

In other Kings news, notable crazy man/possible super villain Larry Ellison wants to buy AEG, which owns the Kings, Staples Center, part of the Lakers, and a ****ton of other stuff. Sounds like AEG is going to be worth somewhere around 10 billion dollars. Whaaaat.
Hmmm, this does pertain to my interest, since I liked Rich Hammond's info on how is everything going with the team, as well as the farm system which are the Manchester Monarchs, during those 2nd period intermissions when listening on the radio. Well, I already know that he left, which is a shame because the main reason I followed him on twitter is for new information on the team as well as AEG, now we don't have that anymore, for the moment, what a shame.

kings weren't the villian here, but lol nhl censorship. don't blame hammond for moving on.

I do hope they hire a good replacement. hammond was reliable and updated constantly. had good fan communication. he will be missed.
Agreed.

Sven Baertschi, aka Messiah™, with a goal and an assist in his first AHL game, a 4-1 drubbing of Peoria.

If they ever play a season, he's my odds on favourite for the Calder.

he'd be my favorite too if he didn't play for a dog**** team

Also, it's worth noting that Akim Aliu was tossed at the end of the game for "abuse of an official" and will most likely be receiving supplementary discipline, lolol.

Just when you think you know a guy...

When is the last time the owners in a league realized the guy they hired sucks?
Especially when he was hired to do exactly what the owners tell him to do?

Do they ever just admit they ****ed up and they need someone to run the league as if he gave a **** about more than short term profits?

Or is that too much to ****ing ask?

tyler myers hired in klagenfurt, this pisses me off somehow although it's great for the league..

thomas vanek managed to miss 5 penaltys in a row in austria, he plays very good but can't score even if his life depends on it... has 1g 1a in 3 games they managed to not score on a 13 minute consecutive powerplay, 4 minutes even were 5 on 3..... at least every game is sold out now

CBA negotiations are all about long-term profits, not short-term. Lowering the players' share by 1% puts a lot more money into the pockets of the owners.

I guess I meant shorts-sighted, trying to grab every dollar even if it alienates your fanbase.

looks like Rochester have a few to watch there in Hodgson, Adam, Foligno, etc

yeah i forgot to mention a bunch of guys, like KEITH AUCOIN, that Porter dude from the Avs, Mancari, ZEMGUS GIRGENSONS, Scrivens, PAUL RANGER, and on it goes...

1st period cliffs:

- Marlies spent the whole period on the PP basically
- Jake Gardiner is too good for this league
- lol Hodgson
- this Deschamps kid looks awful
- Joe Blowens stfu! (can't stand his perma-shout delivery)

not sure if i'll keep watching or not

a) You comp'd a Leafs player. Not getting soft now are we?

b) At least with his near optimal ratio of PASSION and objectivity (for a regional broadcaster) he makes Jack Edwards looks like a traveling budget circus performer.
