slap shot is weird. it's like one half typical comedy of the 2000s, one half gritty character-driven 70s movie. if they remade it today they would cut all the female characters down into stereotypes.

You must be a casual fan. I've seen slapshot maybe 30-40 times. At least once a season, usually several times a season, basically since I was 12. That's a lot of bus rides. I can probably do half the movie by myself.

Its still an absolute classic in every respect. The lines are great on their own, until you remember all the hockey characters you know that actually talk and think like that in earnest.

And then you enjoy it on a whole other level.

And then the bunnies. And the fans. And its all so just fantastic.
