Question for the CBA pros ITT,

if the Habs sign Galchenyuk to his ELC but he plays in the OHL next season, it doesn't burn a year off his rookie contract, right?

He can play 0 to 7 games in the nhl and it still won't count as the first year. If he plays 8, the contract's first year is initiated.

I'm no CBA pro, so I might have something wrong.

and as I post this, the Habs announce they have signed him to his ELC! (I had heard the rumors which is why I asked).

Hopefully they're not dumb enough to rush him to the NHL right away, considering his last season of hockey was when he was 16 in the OHL and he has blown out a knee since.

habs will wait and have galchenyuk sign a 4-5 year ELC under the new CBA. and then who cares if it slides. michel therrien is more conniving than we realize.

also Alexander Khokhlachev is going back to play for Spartak in the KHL. the dude destroyed the OHL for two years in a row, yet the Bruins can't find him space on the NHL roster. due to age, he is restricted from playing anywhere else in NA.

they didn't wait though, they just signed him. doubt he ends up on the habs this year though.

Both habs and oil obviously wanted the 5 year elc for our russians, but both signed today. Either its become clear the 5 year elc isn't happening, or someone (nhlpa? Nhl? Agents?) stepped in to say they coudln't wait.

Impressive yes, NHL ready no. His dad is the GM of Spartak. No brainer decision, make $40 a week playing for the Spitfires or make $40K a week playing at home in the KHL.

The real question that no one's asking is about today's trade is, on a netmouth scramble, is Rick Nash able to flop around like a dying fish?

Kind of like the Clb end of the deal. 3 roster players and a pick that will turn into a top 10 when the Rags flop.
Clb just needs young talent. Forget the star approach. Good, competitive hockey will draw fans.

that was a defenseman flopping around, and "to flop around like a dying fish" as you call it is to actually play defense.

Spoiler:
in the Torts' system!!! lolTorts.

isn't Dubinsky kind of a salary dump at $4.2m?
is Erixon any good?
does Anisimov have star potential?
do Nathan MacKinnon lottery tickets have a lot of value?

will be interesting to see Nash play in NYC, put up or shut up time for him.

dubinsky isn't a salary dump. he is a younger brooks laich with 2 fewer years on his contract. (ETA: and $300k lower cap hit to boot! he'll get a ton of interest and howson will probably trade him for something good. )
anisimov has a ton of potential. i don't know what CBJ are running, but he needs to play in a speed system again.

Dubinsky is the 4th swaggest player in the league, so I'm sad to see him go. Him, AA, and Prust handled a lot of tough minutes for us so we'll have to find a way to fill those minutes.

I have no idea what Erixon's deal is, but we have 3 young left handed dmen on roster already, so one of them would have had to move to the right side.

Nash's contract is ridic and he can't drive play as much as most think he can, but we can afford to gamble right now.

1. Subban
2a. Carter
2b. Richards
4. Dubinsky
5. Lucic
