They will match, ye 26mill is a lot of money to pay for 1 year of 1 player, but how much will they lose in attendance figures and jersey sales if they don't match?

1. Match offer
2. Release new jersey for next year
3. ????
4. Profit

ya, i was thinking about this and also thought it was weird that weber would end up with less per year than suter. Structure wise and time value of money could change things, but its still a little odd. I dont think the gap is as big as you do, but Weber is obv better and deserves to be paid accordingly.

first, the rumored deal is 14/110, which last i checked is > 13/98. second, weber is rfa, which means philly not only has to pay him, but they have to give up 4 first round draft picks. now i have no idea what weber would get if he had been ufa, but it is probably bigger than 14/110.

o ok, i didnt see it was 110, instead of 100, that makes more sense. Good point about the picks as well. RFA seems awful for the player unless they dont mind being committed to a team for a long time. Being stuck in nashville seems like it would suck, but maybe thats what he wants.

wow. It sounds like Weber is going to Philly based on this. I get the feeling the agent knows more than he can say (obv, but in relation to Nashville matching).

Smashville can't afford the money. If they match the offer I will be surprised.
There may not be a 2012/13 season from what I have been reading with the owners new demands. 5 yrs on entry level pay. 10 years until UFA and contracts not to exceed 6 yrs. Revenue share cut to 47 from 56 %
I really can't see the PA agreeing to any of this.

so if Nashville matches they're not allowed to trade him for 1 calendar year or until the end of the regular season?

If it's the former then that really ****s them .... can't imagine they'd match to give themselves an out to trade him in a year for something worth more than 4 low 1sts if they also have to part ways with 26 mill in cash for 1 year of weber

Thats a pretty solid deal for winnick imo, he always crushed in fenwick (for his 3rd line role) whenever i checked. He seems like one of those guys who is going to be undervalued b/c he doesnt fill up a traditional stat sheet. Hes a bad shooter, but wins a lot of battles w/ his size, that helps the lines possession numbers. I dont know much about burish, but im pretty sure the winnick contract is >>>> burish, esp when you take years into account.
