The following thoughts went through my head:

a) holy crap an Alberta team won a cup back in 1917? it must have been Edmonton
b) no way it's Edmonton, I would have known about it
c) THOSE ****ING CALGARIANS WON THE FIRST CUP?!??

I then realized that you used the incorrect GOAB when you meant GOaB.

Portland Rosebuds played for it in 1916, first GOAB team to make the finals or whatever it was called, but could not take it down.

Dreger just tweeted that Weber agreed to a 14-year offer sheet with the Flyers for $100m. Your thoughts cwice? I can't even think of a thought right now.

Nashville matches 100% of the time though.

4 first rounders is not worth your franchise player (in this case anyways).

7.1m cap hit? seems reasonable for Nashville to match

Dreger said upwards of $100M. It could be something completely ******ed

What's up with these ******edly long NHL contracts? So absurd they are even allowed to be given out.

$7.14m cap hit is ok, but 14 years is lolololololololol

also guessing that it's massively front-loaded to screw Nashville over and give Weber lockout insurance

also i wonder what % of the 14 years is Homer thing "i'll be long dead before this thing is done, so what do i care!?"

time to go bump your thread, sea weiss...

I'm at the ER right now with my brother, who got stuck like a pig tonight at his men's league game. Two front teeth mangled and bleeding rather profusely, stitches most likely required.

And neither of us can believe the Weber offer sheet lolol

he was a restricted free agent, hence the offer sheet.

He's not asian and insanely popular and profitable outside of hardcore fans, so I think Nashville will match.

Google RFA and offer sheets

Dreger's last tweet indicated Weber might get paid $26 mil in one calendar year.

I'm really not sure about Nashville's ownership situation but that is a ridiculous amount of money for one player.

Also, if I knew how to post pics from my phone, I'd get a beauty of a shot up here, but I'm technologically challenged...ugh

It might not even be 4 first rounders. The offer sheet would have to be $7,835,219 or more per year to get 4 first rounders as compensation.

And yeah there's no way Nashville doesn't match this.

compensation actually looks like two 1st Round Picks, a 2nd, & a 3rd, as far as i can tell from looking around, which is obv pretty lousy for Nashville.

and that's especially sick bc if you match, you can't trade the guy for 1 year. so RFA offer sheets are always "poison pill"-esque front-loaded to induce a team to walk away. from wiki:

Since the lockout, six restricted free agents have signed offer sheets, and only one player has changed teams as the result of an offer sheet: Dustin Penner before the 2007-08 season. Penner is also the only player since 1997 (Chris Gratton) to change teams via an offer sheet).

poor Preds, this blows. have to imagine that they were offering $7-8m on a reasonable term, guess this was Weber's way of getting out. first Suter, then him. ouch!
