In slightly more on-topic news:

- Buccigross says Dan Boyle for Marian Gaborik almost happened
- According to this piece the Sharks lost upwards of $15 million last year despite selling out every home game, but the owners run the team as "a labor of love" (so classy)
- Elliotte Friedman reports Philly was probably the highest bidder on Parise and he was like BUTNAHHHH

Thoughts regarding a canadian from Quebec named Alexandre Picard? (a winger, not the defenseman). He just got hired from "my" club in Switzerland. Apparently he was drafted first round in 2004, is doing pretty good in AHL but somehow never performed well enough in NHL. He'll play for us unless he gets a 1-way offer

Kirby?

I think it's more puke worthy Sharks can sellout 82 games and be down 15 mill.

im pretty skeptical of this, but im not an expert on the exact nuances of what brings money to an organization. Revenues in the league have gone up since the lockout and iirc the sharks were ranked around tenth for franchise value, before last year. The sharks have a lot of fervent fans, but it doesnt have the brand like the original six teams have. It probably would have helped to win the cup obv, and the sharks must spend millions upon millions on charities or other endeavors improving the bay area. The Sharks would make more money if they weren't building childrens' hospitals and roller hockey courts for elementary schools, but thats what makes them one of the best organizations in sports.

Coyness can stop you from saying all the things in life you'd like to, so I'll just come out with it - the Vancouver Millionaires won in 1915 and the Victoria Cougars shipped the Cup in 1925.

1917, first team of GOAB's to win the Cup
