seriously though. alcohol is the worst, and playing hockey is one of the reason why i don't really drink. if i only watched hockey, i probably would still be having quite a few drinks every night.

Female. Mid 20's, redhead, about 5'7" and 34C cup breasts if I had to give my best estimation. She was, ahem, bemused.

Just finished watching tonight's WWE PPV, ffs I have to grow up.

I have a beer after games, and a couple after a championship, but not much more. Who knew hockey would bring about moderation?

Tipping over would probably more aptly cover it.

In actual hockey news, Green rejects the Capitals qualifying offer. Looks like a long term deal could be in the works, but what is his actual value right now? He's been riddled with injuries and hasn't been the same player we've seen in the past.

As a Swiss citizen and swiss league fan I was wondering what is in your guys opinion the % chance is this going to end up with a lock out

The reason is, last time it happened we got to see Nash, Thornton and many more NHL stars playing for our teams which was the most awesome thing ever.

I'm a little worried though because in our league the clubs are only allowed to have 4 foreigners in their ice line-up at a time, and afaik my club's shopping is pretty much done for this year..

thoughts? Also inb4 50/50, either it happens or it doesn't

If they're smart, they'll avoid a work stoppage at (almost) any cost, because they have far too much momentum right now and the NBA is a joke. Two work stoppages within 8 seasons is just ridiculous.

yeah i don't think that an extended lockout is too likely this time (just think they'd be super wary after losing an entire season recently), but the owner's Commissioner never ceases to amaze me.

The NHL will lock out but I don't think many players will be playing in foreign leagues, because I don't think anyone believes that they will miss a full season.

There will be a work stoppage because the league has definitely learned from the previous two work stoppages that the fans come back. NHL revenues are way up from where they were in 2004, the TV contracts are locked in, what incentive is there NOT to lock out the players if it means squeezing out a better CBA?

The NBA is also not a joke, nor do I consider it a real competitor with the NHL.

I don't think the byproduct of one work stoppage is directly analogous to that of a potential repeat, if only because I think we'd be understating the effect of having a second one in such relatively quick succession; to assume the fans will come back in droves again because they did in '05 is dangerous.

I don't think it's dangerous at all. There was a work stoppage in 1995, fans came back. A full season one in 2004, fans came back. I don't expect there to be a full season lockout, that just doesn't make sense for anyone involved (whereas during the last lockout, it did make sense for the owners to do that if they were losing as much money as they claimed). But I completely expect fans to return - when haven't they? The owners in all 4 major team sports can always count on them.
