unfortunately it's been going on for like 99% of his life, afaict. and no, it doesn't appear as though it's going to get much better any time soon, but it could get much, much worse. and almost certainly will (Iginla traded or retires, and team bottoms out completely), before it gets a lot better.

most recent events that have upset him:
  • his team traded down in the draft when several solid prospects were on board. after that when their pick finally did come up again, they took some kid ~20 spots too high according to most observers. he is currently playing at a level that Geddy has played at or something. i don't even know what it is really, they referred to it as basically high school hockey in Quebec. i can't remember if or when a player has been taken in the 1st round from that level. so basically if he turns out to be any good, it'll be in like 3-5 years at best, and his team needs help now.
  • the 2nd event today was his team trading assets for the right to sign a player, probably for way too much money, who might actively hurt his team and be way -EV at that price. also signing this player might make his GM think he can afford to trade a player at the same position who is actually good, and will inevitably he'll screw that trade up.
  • to compare...event #1 is maybe on par with trading down to draft Perry Jones III (if you're familiar with basketball), if say he was playing at some incredibly low high school level.
  • whereas event #2 is maybe like trading a couple assets for Monta Ellis so you can sign him to a max contract, when you're a bad team and he won't help you get any better.

Fans here love him, it's that simple. Ya, he wanted out for however long w/e. He played his ass off and was the games most exciting player for a long period of time.

Gillis is butthurt about something or other that PB did. I mean look at who we have in the Ring of Honor or whatever bull**** they call that subset of players:

Orland Kurtenbach
Kirk MacLean
Harold Snepsts
Thomas Gradin

Ya, Bure doesn't deserve to be in that group of all-stars. wtfisthis****picard.jpg

Never mind the fact that Stan ****ing Smyl has his number retired and Bure doesn't.

Yikes.

Muresean, was Wideman considered decent in Caps fans circles in his first 30 or so games last season?

I forgot how solid his '08-09 season was with Boston. Pretty sure he had the Chara pairing that year though. But by his end at Boston, he was getting booed mercilessly, he was just god awful. But I thought I remember him being decent in the first half of last season for Washington. It's almost like he has this honeymoon phase with each new team but his AIDS invariably always rears its ugly head, most often during the crucial time of the year.

I even remember talking to another Caps fan on AIM during an early season Caps game on TV and after an lolWideman play, something like:
Me: lol, you guys enjoying Wideman?
Him: Eh, he's actually been pretty solid.
Me: Just wait.

Wideman's best season was playing with Chara, he was a +30 or something stupid and put up reasonable points. I'm just using +/- here as a reference point because every other year has been atrocious for him iirc.

He'll almost be guaranteed to play with Bouwmeester at even strength and J-Bo's had his fair share of experience babysitting bombscares over his last couple of seasons in Calgary.

I mean, in a perfect world, he puts up 40+ points again and our complete AIDS powerplay is slightly less AIDS. But at what cost?

I just don't deserve this Mickey Mouse garbage, I really don't. Neither does Jarome.
