quite the HHOF Day for Vancouver. i mean first you got "Burnaby Joe" Sakic (Burnaby is basically the city directly east of Vancouver), as Geddy talked about earlier. then two Canuck legends in Pavel Bure & Mats Sundin. wait...what? and Adam Oates? yeah he doesn't really have any connection to Vancouver...

Pavel Bure's 1st game:

0g, 0a, 0pts, 3rd star

but it was a great performance and a clear sign that this kid was going to be amazing. no one gotta em outta the seats quite like Pavel. what great speed and skill, unbelievable goal scorer.

Greatest Canucks piece on Bure:

McKenzie just tweeted that a handful of NHL teams think Schultz will sign in Vancouver.

i mean, assuming that he's actually good or whatever...

and then just dump Luongo, Ballard, & Booth back on Florida, give Raymond away to someone, bury Alberts in the minors, and sign Parise, Suter, & Doan.

Spoiler:
PRESIDENT'S TROPHIEZZZZZ!!!

Knowing his emphasis on family, it'll be a Western Canadian team, if I had to guess. Depends which one. Vancouver's probably a very good fit. I'd definitely make an offer if I was Calgary. I'd love to see him with the Flames.

As far as the 4 year term is concerned, it might seem excessive for his age but he's an absolute physical freak and he's been one of the most durable players in the league over the last decade - he's only missed 24 regular season games in the 7 seasons since the lockout. If he says he can play another 4 years, I believe him.

No one believed Ray Whitney two seasons ago when he said "no, I'm healthy, I'm good for at least two more years" and look what he's done. I'm not saying they're analogous players, but if these guys are healthy and still committed to going through their rigorous offseason programs, I don't think teams should be scared. I guess cap hit is the only issue.

Maloney doesn't have the green light to make an offer until the ownership situation is cleared up, and Goldwater's getting involved again.

The deal won't be completed until after July 1st, ergo, Doan's camp is indicating he will field offers.

Makes sense, he's a BC boy and the Canucks will let him ease into the league a lot better than most teams who are after him.

Oh.

I still really believe the Oilers are gonna pull this one off. Law of averages right? The last big name free agent to sign here was just elected into the Hall of Fame and got a coaching job today. I'm only slightly exagerating...

We're due to win one!

We gotta sit him down with all 3 of the kids (including BC Boy RNH), and tell him he'll be our #1 D man playing top minutes with Oscar "Lidstrom" Klefbom, and get to QB a power play featuring the Nuge, Hall, Eberle, and Yakupov. How can he say no?

I have no idea what the cap implications are 3 or 4 years from now when our entire team is done their ELCs, so I just want to see a somewhat short term (3 or less year) contract get done. Pay through the teeth please Katz. I can't watch another year of defenseless hockey.

We are also probably the only team that will guarantee him a letter! Not on the front of the jersey, but a J on the back...

btw while typing out that power play line, I just wet my pants.

If we don't sign Schultz, we'll use the same line, except we'll just plant smytty in front of the net and get the old geezer 40 goals next year.

I might be interested (putting my money on Pit obv). Not sure how we'd arrange it though or how high you want the stakes to be.
