I can't see, and don't want, Montreal trading for Yakupov.
They don't need a skilled winger. They need a big C. Grigo and Galchen are good options for them. Giving up Gorges is huuuuuuge spew. Also grigo+eller > yakupov. I'd be pretty upset if Montreal traded anything of significance to move up.

Best bet is probably Gunnarsson+5th overall+2nd rounder for Oil's first. I don't think gunny+5th is enough.

Nash's contract is probably too much for the Leafs. They need other pieces. Would lol if it was Nash+Steve Mason for like 5th+Kadri.

cliff notes: i don't see the habs or isles moving their pick. edmonton almost assuredly will. (my buddy says they'll draft yakupov and trade hall or eberle -i think he's ******ed)
cbj is a wild card.

As neat as it would be to have tricky ricky on a PP with phil da thril, moving the 5th and not picking up a Galchenyuk kind of scares me.

Also, as it stands now the Leafs would have to make some difficult manoeuvres in order to be able to absorb his albatross.

geddy i think youre under-evaluating gorges at this point.

He's putting up huge minutes and playing really solid. He has the most blocked shots in the league, etc.

eller is not even comparable at this point in value.

I dont know man. You could argue that gionta finally coming back from his bicep injury might plug a hole (not really), but plekanec desperately needs scoring wingers.

The exact thing happened to him in Anaheim, except he was on the other end

Any trade involving Nash has got to be for a goalie. I hope Howson understands this and if not, that Craig Patrick reminds him.

I'd normally page Dr. Berg but Jimmy's a superstar poster 364 days of the year. I'm not going to light up the Berg-Signal for this one.

No, I quite like Gorges. He's exactly the type of guy Edmonton needs on the blueline. What I'm saying is Montreal would have to give up something of reasonable value to move up to 1st if that trade were to happen.

I've been a Plekanec skeptic since his extension but I thought it was pretty apparent this season he was alone on an island and I legit felt bad for him. He did a ton of heavy lifting for the Habs with little support on most nights. I'm inclined to agree with this stance.

And I love Rex Murphy, but Jesus Christ, this is atrocious. Stick to politics Rex, they don't use wood to make hockey sticks anymore.

It's almost like we forget the fans are people too. I don't blame Leafs fans for getting bitter and hostile, they have nothing to do with this mess but they're chided by haters as if they bear the complete brunt of responsibility.

When it does happen - and it will - I'll be so happy for my brother and dad when they turn it around because they've put up with so much unnecessary garbage from people for so many years.

Hi, I'm Bill Berg, Executive Vice President of Poster Safety and Omniscient Thread Overlord Operations, and I'm pissed off.

**At 1:28 am and 1:52 am on Saturday, April 14th, Henrik Sedin made the following posts in the NHL Offseason 2012 Thread:

Look, I don't know how much more clear we can be on the issue. This is a direct violation of the very first rule of the thread, found at the top of the OP. Posting before your team is mathematically eliminated from Stanley Cup contention is not permitted under any circumstances. And Henrik doesn't just step over the line once, he does it twice! After Jimmy was already given reprieve for his mistake, I have no choice but to act swiftly and decisively. I will not stand for such blatant disregard of our rules. This is exactly the type of reckless posting we need to eliminate from our forum and I am fully prepared to, um...er...one second...

*Shanny, what the hell are you talking about? I know it's the playoffs, so what? Who cares if he's a mod too?*

...

*Ugh, fine...*

Ahem, I've reached my verdict.

To review the key points:

- Blatant disregard for Offseason Thread rule #1
- Multiple violations of said rule
- Wheel of Justice double standard invoked for mod and playoffs

It is my recommendation to the 2p2 SE mods that Henrik Sedin receive a fine of 2,500 Sklansky Bucks, the maximum fine allowed under the Twoplustwo Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Now stop wasting my time and get back in the goddamn playoff thread, you Swedish meatball pussy.

That's some quality posting by Bergy.

That Rex Murphy rant is awful. Irrational loyalty is the whole point of being a sports fan and i have no idea why he seems to think there is some correlation between Burke's Leafs doing terribly and Ballard's Leafs doing terribly.

To be fair, down 0-2 in a 7 game series, the Canucks are mathematically eliminated.

Vigneault is one of the better coaches in the league... I think management is smart enough to keep him. But if the Canucks really do end up getting swept, something huge has to happen. Probably end of one of Luongo/Kesler/Sedins careers in Vancouver.

Hey, the Sedins could be just the thing Columbus is looking for in exchange for Nash and their 2nd.

Murphy is probably playing in the WC because he's the top rated Canadian prospect and the Leafs have a top 5 pick; so the hockey world wants to ensure the Leafs don't take him by making him as much of a valuable Canadian as possible
