hey guys this has been a heavily debated argument. These qbs were in the draft class of 04 but their teams that they were drafted into have decided the faiths of their achievements thus far in their career. When debating this we shouldnt talk about achievements we should talk about whose better and which would you prefer on your team if you had the chance.

I have philip rivers at #1 because he can lead his team to victory by passing the ball whereas ben and eli are both on run first teams and they dont have to do as much to win.

I put Eli at #2 because he is a great passer when he is called upon. At times he looks like a great qb but makes stupid plays at times but overall i think he is a good qb.

Ben is my #3 because i think that he does barely anything for his team to win. He was drafted into a team that always had good playmakers, a great defense, and he always had a great running. He can make some good passes at times on the move but he also holds the ball for way too long and he has been the most sacked qb since 04.

This is a very debatable argument and I want to see some of you guys opinions so please post your ranks of these 3 qbs.

This probably won't be a popular thread but I do think it is a decent question. Another thing to consider is the talent each works with when throwing the ball. Rivers receivers >>>> Ben's > Eli's imo.

Before this year, I would have said...

Rivers, Eli, Ben.

Right now, I'm probably saying Ben, Rivers, Eli.

He's passed for more yards than Eli in his career despite 400+ fewer attempts, thrown for only 1 fewer touchdown, and has a career QB rating 13.3 better than Eli. Has Eli also barely done anything to win?

Rivers/Roth a flip... then Eli, imo

This has been done before it kind of always goes like this. People bring up that Eli has been better and Ben just a game manager and all of that when Ben has significantly better stats. Stats aren't everything and the teams are obviously different but the gap is pretty big.

I'm biased but I agree with you that it's Rivers and Roethlisberger in some order then Eli.

well rivers this year is working with a crap o line and sproles is averaging 3.5 yards per carry and Lt is averaging 3.2 yards per carry. He is dealing with a bad running game

OP hasnt Rivers had a running game his whole career LT was probably the best player in FB for most of Rivers career. SD has also had playmakers, Gates has been a top 3 TE for a while and their defense has been good. Except for recently Rivers hasnt had to do much but manage the game either.

Big Ben
Rivers
Eli

I like em Ben, Riv, Eli. Of course, I've been a Ben fanboy since he was in college and told everyone that would listen that I liked him as the #1 QB that draft.

In reality Ben probably is the same as Rivers, but with all the talent Rivers has around him (dominant pass catching RBs) he definitely appears better. Also think about the team goals, etc. SD is a high scoring offense while Pittsburgh plays ball control and defense. Also keep in mind that Rivers plays in much better weather generally than Ben. If the situations were reversed I could see Ben having similar career numbers to Rivers and vice versa.

edit: Eli is not in this discussion at all imo, but his situation (heavy running game) isn't going to result in him putting up huge numbers. That said I don't think he's as good anyways because his TD/INT ratios have been the worst of the three historically.

Can we include Matt Schaub in this discussion? He was taken in the 3rd round of the '04 draft. Also, no love for JP Losman, the 4th QB taken in the 1st?

I was kind of saying something similar to that but I also happened to be working at Miami (Ohio) at the time and following him pretty closely so I admit to being really biased.

I hate all three Qb's, but if I had to choose, I would call it Rivers>Ben>Eli

Eli will be way better than both lame Ben and lame Rivers within the next 5 years imo. The problem with Eli is he lacks the control that Big Ben has. Rivers is a hothead himself, but that dude can play. I heard someone made the argument that Rivers has Gates and a good running game. Sproles just emerged recently and I dont remember Phillip Rivers having good wide receivers. Bigben only gets credit for his "pocket awareness" because of his damn O line, put him on a team like Tampabay and see how **** he does(Rivers would succeed). Bah !
