I was thinking Alabama would go to the orange bowl vs Clemson or Missouri.

I thought the Fiesta was tied to the Big 12 champion.

Clemson goes to orange as at-large over Baylor or Oregon because of the ACC ties it has, which ****ing sucks but is just the way the bowls work. Mandel explained it in his piece tonight.

not only that but then they also get revenge that the orange bowl features them = ratings bonanza

January 2014 games - Orange, Sugar, Fiesta is the order of picking

if #1 would've been locked into a bowl, that bowl gets first pick from the at large pool, 2nd is #2 etc etc

orange seems most likely Alabama vs Clemson yikes for clemson
rose is either pac 12 vs Alabama (I know they usually take next big 10 squad, but if FSU and OSU both win, Alabama is available...) or pac 12 vs sparty (only big 10 option at this point even if they lose and they do tend to go traditional but why would you pick sparty for alabama?) but they well might not finish in the top 14 too...

sugar is sec champ vs UCF/NIU probably UCF
fiesta is getting B12 champ vs ucf/niu probably NIU sorry everyone at least B12 champ should score at least 50 points

if all dogs win
Nat title Alabama vs ?????
Orange Duke vs Ohio State
Sugar ??? vs UCF/NIU
Fiesta same ****
Rose Sparty vs Pac 12

with ???? being FSU/SEC champ SEC champ probably in over FSU though since they'd have lost not as recently, yep we could have a rematch

dunno what clemson fans are rooting for here, getting clowned in the orange to alabama or maybe having a winnable game--well if OSU loses they probably face them instead. I'm presuming orange takes OSU over everyone else for the last non locked in spot in that scenario and (presuming bcs would step in and at least say a FSU duke orange bowl rematch would suck thus advising against sugar taking OSU)

I guess you just take the highest bowl and deal with the results

whenever the computers disagreed with the polls, they changed the computer formula to try to make the results look like the polls. The whole a win is a win and a loss is a loss is a bit ridiculous of a way to rank teams.

I'm actually surprised NIU isn't top 3 in all of them at this point b/c they haven't lost.

kinda ridiculous auburn's big win made them less likely to go to a BCS game

they were quite likely to take alabama's spot in sugar if bama won sec title game but bama will get selected over them if they lose the sec title game.

well NIU/UCF are playing this week so there's still room for plenty of lol's in chokes.

FOS is a figure of speech. The computers have OSU ranked higher, which to me says that OSU's accomplishment is more impressive than Auburn's. Intuitively that seems like bs to me. So it's good to know that it isn't and OSU's accomplishment is greater according to the numbers GB put up, even though I still have doubts.

Part of me thinks that the calculation should include the qualification that Auburn could not lose to Alabama or Missouri, since that would have knocked Auburn out of contention. But I guess not.

The odds of an average top-5 team making it through Auburn’s schedule with exactly 1 loss are 28.1%, so the chances of making it through with one loss or better are 38.4%.

So counter to my initial thoughts, arguing that a 12-1 Auburn team should jump a 13-0 Ohio State team doesn’t seem reasonable.

There are a couple contenders that could have arguments at 12-1. The chances of a top-5 team going 12-1 or better against Georgia’s schedule are 23.2%, against Stanford’s sched are 23.2% and against UCLA’s sched are 23.0%, but those teams have already lost, 4, 2 and 3 games respectively so the point is moot.
Can you run it with next game's week included (I'm assuming it isn't)?

After including Dook the FSU % plummets to 29.05.

why the **** are there bowl projections with Clemson in the Orange Bowl (fine), but then Miami and Va Tech, both of which have a worse record, worse conference record, and h2h loss vs. Duke leapfrogging Duke to take the CFA Bowl and Russell Athletic Bowl? **** that noise, if Duke doesn't get the ACC #3 slot behind FSU and Clemson then this whole system is ****ed.

Um what about: Ohio State beats Sparty and then beats FSU? I think that as of now, Ohio State is the favorite to win the national title despite the betting line. FSU is a name w/ a rapist QB who hasn't been relevant in 10 years. OSU has been to like 8 BCS games in the past 10 years.

w both FSU and OSU winning this weekend, I think FSU will go off around -4.5 and I will gladdddddly put $$$ on the OSU money line.

You haven't watched either FSU or tOSU at all this year. There's no other way you could think that.

Hi Duke Fan,

Guess what? Name recognition and expected fan travel are very important. H2H during reg season isn't important for bowl consideration.

what makes you think Duke fans won't travel? I don't know of anything that would suggest this and am confident we would sell out our ticket allocation in Atlanta. Also, Duke is a pretty recognizable name even if the football team isn't a traditional powerhouse.

Sagarin Predictor of the opponents of 5 contenders. These represent the top 11 victories of each teams. Losses are omitted. Try not to cheat and look it up or try to figure out who has teams in common to figure out what the teams are.

What teams are most deserving of the championship based on their victories. Since the teams that lost all had respectable losses, the losses do not count against the teams.

I'm talking recognizable from a football standpoint. We know VT fans will travel. We can't be so sure about Duke fans. There is probably just more risk choosing Duke than VT for the CFA Bowl.

Maybe he recognizes defending people against a bunch of thugs is the sign of character.
