Join a softball league, learn the basics of the game. If you have fun, then maybe think about playing more seriously with the intent of playing in an adult league someday - specifically, over-30.
HOnestly, I never even told the guy I'm working out with now that I have no baseball experience, and he's never questioned me on it after seeing me on the field.

I'm sorry, baseball is hard to play at a competitive level, especially pitching.

'if it wasn't hard everyone would do it. It's the hard that makes it great.' Not sure if I got that line right.

I'm honestly surprised your trainer couldn't tell you've never played before. In my experience it's easy to tell a person's baseball experience just by how they throw.

He's not my trainer. He's a former HS pitcher who's coming back from Tommy John surgery that I've been working out with.

Yea, everyone who's seen me throw that knows I have never played is surprised by how hard I can throw.

This is good, but not as good as the thread which featured an OP who thought he could beat Mayweather, due to being 6'3" and fairly athletic.

knowing i couldve played D3 ball with ease if i had a better work ethic despite playing baseball all summer every summer from age 7-17 with years of rec t-ball before that, also received private lessons over the years from former world series champion barbaro garbey, had a cannon for a player my size, went to probably a dozen baseball camps and many more clinics in total, received further private coaching, played travel for 4 years against tons of college players and a major leaguer or two, started every year in high school, and had a respectable career for someone with my genetics.

and you think riding a stationary bike and playing catch with your buddies will make you good enough to compete at my level...lol @ u.

A decent level adult league seems very doable. Not with former DI guys or anything but I can't imagine it'd be impossible to play some level of adult league. Im a hockey guy so I don't know but anyone reasonably athletic can play anything but the highest levels of adult league for that if they really put a couple years into it hardcore (mainly because adult league hockey is horrid) and id imagine more people play rec baseball than hockey. Pro seems like as very long shot, even at the glorified adult league levels. You really think you're gonna be better than former D3 types who've pitched for 10-12 years?

Amazin, saw that you referenced the frontier and canam leagues earlier. Not sure if you already knew this but I am quite familiar with both and have worked in each of those leagues.

Generally when they have an open tryout they will get 100+ kids who all played collegiately and all know what they are doing...and maybe two will get picked up out of that.

You may be okay to play in a rec league which is nice but unless you are like the runaway mvp of that league you would have no shot at all at hooking up with a frontier league team.

The runaway mvp of the league probably isn't good enough either but in one of the elite leagues it could be possible.

Btw, the FL has age restrictions. Almost every player in the CanAm league are players who have played professionally before. That is, they played a year or two in a major league team's system but were let go when the next wave of drafters forced then to make a move.

They simply don't pick up players who have never played before or only played rec league. The standard is way higher than you think.

But I'm enjoying the tread regardless and if you prove me wrong and get picked up somehow by any pro team anywhere I will certainly be rooting for you.

Couple of indy leagues that are a bit lower than frontier by the way. One is based in Arizona some I think? Maybe another in Missouri? Can't remember. There could be some super-broke and desperate team in last place in one of those leagues that doesn't even have enough players on their roster because they have been bouncing paychecks or something. Some team like that where you literally beg them to just give you a shot might be your best chance.

Any team with any sort of criteria or standards though, I'm going to guess you would finish last out of 50 pitchers all competing for one available spot. I mean, not even having thrown off a mound before and all that.

They for the info. I truly have my work cut out for me. I just don't believe a pro team can ignore a left hander with a 90MPH fastball, regardless of his baseball experience.

I'm still 20MPH away from 90 though.
