And we close with 4 aces, none of which required any sweating... they all were eliminated in the first round.
You get an ace! You get an ace! Everybody get's an ace!!!
As a noted button clicker, my strategy for this question involves finding Fernando Verdasco on the draw, seeing if he is playing a seeded player and picking them. This year looked like a great combination, Verdasco playing the #20 seed who also happens to be a fellow countryman? Jackpot. And my brilliant reasoning was rewarded with my first correct answer, the #20 seed:
The #27 seed also scores an ace. He put up a fight, but still lost in 5 sets in his first round match.
Last year's PEEHS champ had no faith in the highest seeded American, and he was rewarded with a quick and embarrassing loss by the #8 seed in the first round.
And it wasn't just the highest seeded American, every single American seeded player was a correct answer to this question. Our final ace goes to the #16 seed who lost in 4 sets in his first round match.
