Right as this Halep-Kerber match is about to get started, let's reveal questions #11 and #12.

I think this is a fun question and I'm glad it was back this year. You had a very simple task, just pick a player that would get an upset. You could pick an unseeded player hoping to knock off a seed in the first or second round, or pick a higher seeded player and target an upset later in the draw.

First we'll do the Men's draw for question 11, then the Women's for Q12.

The most popular incorrect answer and our SHEEP was taken by 3 of you. Surely you were targeting his first round matchup against the #30 seed, and while this former top-10 player took it to 5 sets, he didn't come away with the victory.

The next 9 incorrect answers were taken by 1 each.

One of our current podium spots is about to change with this incorrect. Perhaps the #25 seed was selected for his expected 3rd round matchup against the #7 seed, or his 4th round match against the #19 seed. Either way, the #7 seed was eliminated early and he lost to the #19 seed and couldn't score an upset in his 3 victories.


This pick could have only meant the #13 seed upsetting Roger Federer in the 4th round. I would have loved to see that, but unfortunately this American lost in the 2nd round.


As luck would have it, the #12 seed wouldn't have even gotten a chance at an upset until the quarters, but lost in the 3rd round, an upset correctly picked by a different entrant.

This unseeded player was playing the #24 seed in the first round. Took him all the way to 9-9 in the 5th set, but then came up short 11-9. So close to being an ace, but unfortunately almost-upsets don't count.


A bit unlucky with this one. This entrant was likely targeting his unseeded choice's 2nd round match with the #8 seed, but the #8 seed lost in the first round! His first upset chance would have been in the quarters but he lost in the 3rd round.

First, me! I was targeting the #19 seed's match against the #12 seed, and things went exactly to formula. They met in the 3rd round, and the #19 seed easily won in straight sets. I don't really like this guy but I'm happy to use him for an ace.


This entrant gets his first ace with this the #17 seed. He was matched up with the #15 seed in the third round, and the #17 seed scored his upset. He easily could have knocked off the #3 seed in the fourth round, but that match didn't quite go his way. But no matter, he's still correct for this question.

The 3rd round matchup between this #23 seed and the #12 seed might have been a good opportunity for an upset. Unfortunately she lost in the 2nd round, and the #12 seed lost anyways so she would have had to make the quarters to even get a shot at an upset.

And the final incorrect answer is from our current leader. Everything was going so well for him until this choice. He was targeting the first round matchup between this unseeded American and the #23 seed, but the American only managed 2 games in a blowout loss. CORRECT ANSWERS

We've had a few 5 player SHEEPs thus far, but for the first time we hit 6. Likely fueled by an unknown cocktail of banned drugs, this unseeded player defeated the #14 seed in straight sets in the second round and easily qualified for this question. It's a big SHEEP but hey, at least you got it right.

And now it is time for us remaining players to take advantage of this big SHEEP and make a move on the leaderboard.

Myself and another player took my favorite American. The #17 seed got her chance at an upset in the fourth round against the #8 seed, and of course took advantage of it. I thought she had a great chance of winning the tournament but after 4 rounds of dominance was unceremoniously bounced from the quarters. Oh well.


Speaking of that quarterfinal match, it was critical for this selection. The #21 seed somehow managed to avoid playing a single seeded player until she matched up against the prior correct answer, the #17 seed, in the quarters. She took advantage and scored her upset at the last possible moment.

And we close with 3 aces...

This unseeded player was matched up against the #5 seed in the first round. If you got bonus points for magnitude of upset, this would take the cake as she completed the huge upset in straight sets. But last year's champ will just have to settle for an ace.
