And for comparison, Fed finaled 31 out of 81 slams. Nadal 30 out of 67.

Med gotta do better than that. Crowd needs to start harrassing him, then he can get mad and flip the beast switch.

Snore-a-thon of a match. Even the long rallies have been dull.

Medvedev is way too reluctant to come into the net. He's missing so many opportunities to kill the ball or take time and space away from Djokovic.

that set was an absolute backbreaker for Med, thought he had good chances if he pulled that one out

Medvedev standing 20 feet behind the baseline to return serve in this match. It killed him all match and it never occured to him to move up? Djoko hitting 80 mph second serves and Medvedev is out of the court for no reason. What a dumb match he played.

That's Med's standard returning strategy. He's said recently he feels like it's better for him, pretty much regardless of the opponent or situation.

The world is ending in 6 months?

I'd prefer to get a bit more of a notice next time, thanks!

Dude hobbled around like an old fart and still beat Medvedev in straights. I don't see why he would retire, or fail to keep beating everyone else on the regular, for 2-3 more years.

That being said, I think Vak will be more decisive about retirement than most others. More like Sampras, the way he just announced one day "yup I'm done now." No heming and hawing for months/years. No pointless emo comebacks, which seem to be all the rage now.

Vak could get to 30 slams if he really wants to.

Plus I think he's having too much fun playing the part of the old man putting the youngins in place, like the way he stomped Shelton and made fun of his celebration. Or how he said he, Roger and Rafa were the next gen (shortly before Roger retired, but still).

He doesn't seem close to being done with tennis yet, mentally. He can play a light schedule and manage his declining body for a couple years.

if i had to choose between @kerr saying he will end with 25 or @krunic thinking he could get to 30 if he wants to i would lean towards @kerr. the dropoff between winning multiple majors a year and never winning a major again is very steep and can happen very quickly and often without warning in advance that it is coming. Rafa went from winning multiple majors in 2022 to drawing dead to ever winning another major again by the beginning of 2023, and novak is almost exactly one year younger than Rafa. Injuries start to become very prevalent around this age and once they start they are almost impossible to stop and almost always career-ending.

Djokovic is not going to beat Alcaraz regularly. Just look at the matches they have played against each other. People shouldn't be overlooking Alcaraz just because he hasn't reached Djokovic levels of invincibility yet. He's absolutely got the potential to do so because he's on a different level to the rest of the field. He's still young and inexperienced. He'll add more layers to his game and learn to better adjust his tactics during a match.

I don’t think Djokovic will get to 30 slams. 27-28 is likely though.

What do you guys think of the Halep news since she got a 4 year ban..

Is she super guilty or actually took unknowing substances that lead to getting caught?

I'm of the opinion that just about every single player on Tour has taken something at one point or another and she's super guilty of getting caught

When I said Vak could get to 30 if he really wanted to, that's not a prediction that he will. I put the over/under at 27.5. I think the farther he separates himself the less motivation he'll have to keep going. But if Nadal somehow comes back competetive and maybe even wins RG next year, it would motivate Vak to play for 2-3 more years and if he does that he could get to 30.

As for Halep, I don't really give a ****, other than that I hope this will make people shut up about how they never ban elite players. There's roughly 4000 ranked singles players on both tours, yet casual knucklehead fans seem to believe that top 10 players should be getting banned just as often as the other 3980, or else it's proof of a vast conspiracy.

Vak playing Davis Cup right now against ADF. He's got his B game, ADF got his A+ game. Vak getting mad at the ump that there aren't ice towels ready for him. It's an indoor court.

Vak going for 20 straight DC singles match wins, last time he lost was 2011 when he retired against Delpo..
