Had a look at his QFs, if he couldn’t beat Cilic or Tiafoe you wonder if he will ever reach a semi final.
8 v 3-Medvedev
7 v 2-Djokovic
5 v 4-Djokovic
9 v 22-Tiafoe (straight sets)
7 v 20-Cilic (5th set tiebreak)
7 v 4-Medvedev
10 v 3-Medvedev
13 v 5-Tsitsipas
unseeded v 1-Nadal
If he remains seeded 5 to 8 then he will continue to face Alcaraz, Djokovic or Medvedev in the quarters. If he could get to 4 in the world he would have his best chance of making a grand slam semi final. He needs to do better at Masters events to get his ranking up, only made one QF this year (won Monte Carlo).
I didn't understand the landline phone celebration but it was dumb and probly deserved to get made fun of.
Shelton reminds me of a young Dominic Thiem. Huge weapons but doesn't yet understand tactics and how to use them most effectively. I think Shelton has better movement and defense than Thiem though. Shelton just needs some more experience playing against elites who can expose his weaknesses.
I was on the Coco bandwagon from day 1, I know I could go back a few years and find posts from people saying that she’s all hype. I guess that’s who she was referring to in her victory speech:
