lol @ anyone who says Margaret Court won 24 majors. It's not black and white when the AO was actually a major, but it's sure as hell many years after Court retired.

Anyway, Vak has won the first two majors of the year without having to play a 5-setter, something I don't think anyone has done before. If there was ever a year to get a CYGS, this is it.

Djokovic will be the overwhelming favourite at Wimbledon. Doubt Alcaraz is good enough on grass yet to stop him. I think Djoko will fall short at the US Open. There are too many players who are able to push him and drain his stamina.

Raonic and Nishikori making comebacks this week, both haven't played for almost 2 years. Raonic at shergoteannnenbsabvbsindkvnbosh and Nishikori at a challenger in Puerto Rico. Both won thier first matches. Raonic could play Medvedev if he wins R2.

Gone from +110 to -150 on Bovada. I've parlayed that with a couple of golfers at the US Open to try and get a nice payout. Djoker should win it easily though.

Tiafoe wins Stuttgart and cracks the top 10. That's 2 Muricans in the top 10, and 3 in the top 15, Tommy Paul also at a career high #15.

Murray won back to back grass challengers, he's playing London 500 next week.

Eubanks into his first ATP final in Mallorca, and #50 in the live ranking. He started the year #123. His game works well on grass, dangerous unseeded threat at Wimby.

Wimby draws are out. Looking pretty good for Vak, although there's not really any draw scenario that wouldn't look good for Vak.

Statz:

Vak career match win % by surface:

grass: 86.2
hard: 84.3
clay: 80.1

Vak hasn't lost a match on grass since Queens Club 2018, which was also the last time he played a grass warmup tournament (lost to Cilic).

It's a push. Nadal Djokovic just about equal H2H

I don't know what this was in response to, but yeah Djokovic is 30-29 h2h. I think these numbers are very kind to Nadal considering nearly half of their matches have been on clay; Nadal is 20-8 on clay overall and 9-22 on hard/grass.

He also had the benefit of playing a good chunk of these matches before Djokovic hit his prime. Djokovic was 7-16 before 2011 and 23-13 since. Pre-2011 he was 0-9 on clay, 5-5 on hard, 0-2 on grass. Since then he's 8-11 on clay, 15-2 on hard, 2-0 on grass. He's been holding his own on clay and 17-2 elsewhere (including 10 straight wins since 2013).

Wins on clay count just as much as wins on grass. Grass's is the rarer weirder surface if you want to think that way.

Kyrgios out. Bottom half just got even weaker.

Matches I'll watch tomorrow:

Bublik-Mcdonald, 3rd match on court 15. Both decent on grass. Bublik won Halle, he has a game and personality that would annoy Vak, so I hope he makes it to the QF.

Thompson-Nakashima 1st match on court 9. Two more guys who've played some of their best matches on grass. Nakashima lost a 5-setter to Kyrgios in the 4th round last year. Thompson finaled shhertetrgserfsongoonnbosh two weeks ago. Winner gets to bend over to Vak 2nd round.

Kenin-Gauff 3rd match court 1. Kenin is a fascinating study in trainwreckery, I can't look away. Her getting through qualies was the first time since october last year that she won 3 straight matches in straight sets. Head to head is 1-1.

Swan-Bencic 3rd match on court 2. Watching Katie Swan is always a good idea, but this could actually be a decent match too. Swan reached her first final of a $100k in surbiton 3 weeks ago. Bencic is a solid grass player, 5 WTA finals and 1 title.

Agreed, I'm not saying they don't count, just that the numbers are skewed a bit in Nadal's favor considering he's a clay court specialist and almost half of their matches are on clay. Federer/Djokovic h2h they've only played on clay 8 out of 50 matches. I don't know what the average distribution is but if it was somewhere in between the two for Djokovic/Nadal it'd likely be much more lopsided.

Swiatek showing some serious grit to win the second set, playing fearlessly to save two match points.

Does the grass court bounce give her forehand trouble? She keeps kneeling really low to hit it.

Yeah this match is great.

Squatting low is generally the best technique for hitting really low shots, as opposed to bending and reaching for it. Aga Radwanska was the GOAT at hitting super low balls, and her coach is now coaching Iga, so maybe that's how Iga learned.

Did Azarenka really refuse to shake hands ? You not even from Russia girl

Edit : OK it was pre-announced by Svitolina

It wasn't Azarenka refusing to shake hands, Svitolina has publicly said she won't shake hands with players from Russia or Belarus.

I heard the Rublev-Bublik match did not disapoint. I'll watch it later. Too bad Bublik won't get a crack at Vak, he'd have a much better chance than Rublev, and it'd be much more entertaining.

I can't remember a slam QF with a player I've never seen before, but it looks like Safiulin gets that award.
