I think the question should be, if Novak does not win Wimbledon, will he go to the Olympics? Is he only interested in the Olympics if he has a chance at a Golden Slam? Or is that irrelevant, and he will go because he is the only one of the "Big 5" to not have an Olympic gold medal?
Murray - MS Gold 2012, XD Silver 2012, MS Gold 2016
Nadal - MS Gold 2008, MD Gold 2016
Federer - MD Gold 2008, MS Silver 2012
Wawrinka - MD Gold 2008
Djokovic - MS Bronze 2008

Yeah without a doubt.
Olympics is huge. It’s once every 4 years as well so adds to the prestige.
Didn't even acknowledge him at the net either. Could have said something encouraging to him. Have no idea how people root for him (especially over Nadal or Federer).
It's pretty easy. Having villains in sport is important and it's much easier to root for someone who is genuine rather than fake nice guys.
I don't see the point of men's qualifying being best-of-5 sets
Only the final round is, but then, Wimbledon is special in many regards - men's pairs play out of 5 sets and mixed pairs play full 3rd set, up to 12:12
The women's defending champ at slams hasn't reached the SF since Wimby 2016 when Serena won 2 in a row. Osaka will be defending champ at the next two, and appears to be in the midst of a serious mental breakdown.
Barty hasn't played any grass warmups and may or may not still be injured. Tough draw as well with Konta R3 (who won Nottingham) and Krejcikova R4.
Normally at slams there's about 3-4 favorites and 10-12 longshots. Now there's no favorites, just 25-30 players who could ship it if they get hot and win the important points at the right times and don't choke. Ana Konjuh beat Pironkova in qualies today and she's a legit contender.
Another contender is wildcard Samsonova, who won Berlin as a qualifier last week. Look at the players she beat in Berlin:
Tsitsipas out. Tiafoe is one of the many "next big thing" players that has occasional success, but mostly failed to live up to their hype. Although to be fair, my memory of the hype surrounding him was that it was mostly based on the fact that he was young, good, and American.
