Andreescu wins US open in 2019 and it feels like she hasn't played since. Lot of injury troubles and now gets Covid. Would like to see if she is as good as she was hyped here in Canada (pretty sure she isn't).

Wimbledon now going to be playing on middle sunday.

Lovely stuff, man Wimbledon is so good.

Ridiculous that Wimbledon usually takes the middle Sunday off. I didn't realise we were still in the 1950s, is everyone still going to church? Cricket Test matches used to have a rest day on Sundays.

French Open - play on 3 Sundays
Wimbledon - usually play on just 1 Sunday

Sinner is seeded for Madrid (probably won't be for Rome): https://www.dartsrankings.com/tennis/madrid

Previous Madrid winners (2005-) that are not Nadal (5 titles), Djokovic (3), Federer (2), Murray (2):
2007 - Nalbandian d. Federer
2018 - Zverev d. Thiem

Tsitispas lost the last final (in 2019) to Djokovic.

It was down the grass. Nothing to do with going to church, otherwise they’d not play either Sunday.

Ha, I thought you thought that was the reason for them not playing on middle Sunday.

If they want to give the grass a rest, do it on the 2nd Monday rather than the first Sunday.

Those attending and those watching around the world would rather there be tennis on a Sunday than a Monday.

If Naomi wins 10+ slams then I'd say it's a good decision to not fly around the world playing tennis every week. Why work harder than you need to? At 23yo she has already won 4, one more and she's equal with Hingis and Sharapova, then she will be just two shy of Henin and Venus.

I'm really impressed by Jannik Sinner not only for his tennis skill but personally. They had a nice interview with him on Tennis Channel this morning after his match and he talked about his parents and said how his father is a cook at a restaurant and his mom is a server there and how hard they work and all that they've taught him. He's so down to earth. I'll be rooting for him hard.

Sinner up to a provisional new career high 17. Will climb to #16 when he beats Popyrin next, unfortunately then will lose to Nadal.

Karatsev up to #26.

Nice jinx on Sinner. Lost to Popyrin in straight sets, 6-7, 2-6.

Yeah, shock loss to the world #76 qualifier but he was going to lose the next round anyway, some practice against Nadal on clay would have been character-building though. Still up one to a career high #17 unless Ruud makes it to the semi final (highly unlikely).

With any luck should be a top 16 seed at Roland Garros and avoid any of the top players until the 4th round there.

Cost me a nice chunk of change too. Thanks Jannik lol. He broke the first game and I turned it off thinking it was over but nope. Was stunned to see he lost in straight sets.

Really hoping Barty can again shut Sabalenka up in the final.

Last two women to reach 10,000 WTA Points: Barty (May 2021), Serena (July 2015)

Zverev likely to win his 4th 1000!

Him and Medv the only others to win 3 since 09
