The Montpellier draw is out and has a couple of fun old vs young matchups. Murray took a WC and plays Gerasimov R1 (the guy who nearly got triple bageled by Karatsev at AO). If he wins that he'll likely play Sinner R2. Would be nice for the old man to experience the future #1's game up close.

Sinner looking for his 2nd title of the year, he's a favorite over every other guy in the draw.

Jo Willy Tsonga is playing his first tournament since AO 2020 and gets Seb Korda R1. I feel like this might be a farewell tour for Tsonga.

It's my new avatar. I think he might be my new favorite when Stan retires.

Yeh, I’ve already jumped on his bandwagon. It was the US open a couple of years back that done it for me.

Time to become a champion!

All over now.

Pretty disappointing final.

9 AO for Novax
13 FO for Rafa
8 WIM for Roger

The men's era was just insane. The Fed/Nadal rival got me into following tennis back in 06 (I also followed in the 80's-mid 90's), when these three guys are done, I expect I'll stop watching.

The race to the finish for slams will be epic. Nadal will likely get 21 if not 22, not an easy task for Djoko, but anything could happen, and it's not impossible for 20/20/18 to be the final count, but I'd bet on something more like 22/22/20 (Fed being the 20)

I agree, there’s going to be a major falling off, I think I’d like to say I’ll keep following it. We need a few to come through.

The young guns aren’t ready yet. Rafa should win the French and Novak should win Wimbledon. Novak will be a strong favorite at the US Open as well. He could be at 20 majors, one behind Rafa by early September.

We keep saying that year after year after year.

I just don't think they are good enough over 5 sets, major anti climax for me this morning.

I convinced myself that he had a chance today but in reality he didn't.

Rafa if fit is almost as close to a lock as possible to win the FO. He may even do it without dropping a set.

I hope Wimbledon goes ahead and we've got this olympics this year as well.

Sinner needs to run deep and have his own monumental moment in a slam against the big 3. We've seen people beat 1 of them but 2 is a stretch. i think theres only been a couple of times when someone has beaten two at the same slam.

At this point, I don't see Thiem ever beating Nadal at RG.

The hype for Sinner is insane. You're not just saying he MIGHT win a grand slam, but that he's a certain to win at least 10?

Claiming that this 19 year old is guaranteed to end his career as at least the 4th best player of the 2000s is quite the prediction.

Krunic's statement was actually an understatement, he's a lock to spend at least 25 years as #1 in the ranking*

*assuming no career ending injuries of course

Obv. Other than Nadal on Clay this was probably the toughest possible match-up for him, he hasn't even been 100% for most of the tourney, and he still made it look easy. It didn't help that Medvedev got tilted one set into the biggest match of his life and gave himself no chance. Credit to the GOAT for putting him on tilt, but still, I didn't expect Medvedev to ****ing Zverev it like that.

I'll admit I'm fully on board the Sinner bandwagon. If you look at Sinner's talent compared to the talent of every young prospect since novax came on the scene, Sinner is miles ahead of all of them.

But predicting what kind of career a player has is as much dependent on the competition as on that player's ability. What are we left with after Rafa and Vax retire? Sinner will begin to hit his physical prime at just the right time, when the GOAT era is well and truly over. Sinner's parents had perfect timing. It's not that I think Sinner would beat peak fed/nadal/vax. It's a moot point, they won't be around. It's that there's no one younger than Vax who comes anywhere close to Sinner's talent.

Also I think Vax is winning at least 5 more slams over the next 3 years and will end up as GOAT. I think he has the physical durability to go at least 3 more years at his current level. Medvedev will eventually figure out how to beat Vax in slams, but I don't see him having a better career than Sinner.

Amidst all the hype about Vax being 9-0 in AO finals, former thread co-titleist Katie Swan won the Orlando $25K, and is now 8-0 in finals. Chick is clutch! Still just 22 years old!
