Yeah also it is a major after all ATP/WTA Tennis 2022

I am honestly surprised that no groups in Australia have tried to create tournaments for after Australian Open.

Once players have done the entry quarantine into Australia, borders between each state are generally fairly lax (depending on exactly which State you are coming from or going to, its State level rules).

With all of these events being held in Melbourne/Victoria, it is a wonder why they wouldn't hold a random 250 or even a non-points Exo in Brisbane or Sydney afterwards to capitalise on those who are already here.

I would recommend Perth as well as an option (city of 2 million people), but we have incredibly tight restrictions with the other states as is which makes it probably a non-goer. But we have 9 months of zero community transmission Rona, so you take the good with the bad.

That did make me laugh. It must be rare for a top player in a sport to call the world #1 a tool.

I get why the financial incentives are there for the top 10 on each side... But it really sucks to fly to Australia, quarantine solo in a hotel room for 14 days, and lose in the first round, which by necessity half the field will do.
That's the thing, I do not believe Tennis Australia properly communicated the quarantine rules. Players were not happy with a mere 5-hour practice window, I'd say some would not have come if they knew that if ANYONE on their flight tested positive on arrival or even subsequently, that EVERYONE on that flight would have to remain in a hotel room for 14 days.

And to make matters worse, they let the top 3 players quarantine in Adelaide, bring their choice of hitting partner as well as larger entourages.

I am not 100% confident that quarantine restrictions will be any different for the 2022 Australian Open.

Nice interview, thanks. It's unusual to hear specific dollar amounts of what coaches get paid and what types of deals players have with investors.

WTA will have 3 tournaments next week, one of which is only for the hard quarantine players, because so many of them complained about being at a disadvantage without any training time for 2 weeks.

Andreescu on the entry list, she hasn't played since october 2019.

Kyrgios just held serve in 35 seconds, and he had to wait 2-3 seconds every point for Muller to get into position.

Swiatek's game in shambles. She has a new racquet. Probably went after the big $$$ after winning a slam instead of sticking with what got her to that level. Sad. Good news is I had Alexandrova +167.

AO draw being made right now. Still a less than 100% chance the tournament happens though.

Livestream from Craig Tiley's office if anyone is that much of a tennis nerd as to want to watch a draw ceremony:

Interesting first rounds: Sinner - El Shapo (winner likely getting FAA R3), Tsitsipas - Simon, Alcaraz - Van De Zandschulp, Norrie - Evans, Nishikori - PCB

Women's R1s worth watching are rybakina-zvonareva, osaka-pavs, kudermetova-kostyuk, and maybe svitolina-bouzkova. But this is a slam so svitolina probly bringing her B game.

Rybakina one of the most underrated players on tour in both game and hotness.

I wonder if it humanly possible for Daniil, Andrey and Karen to be in different halfs of a slam draw?

Sinner with a nice win over Khachanov, and is a pretty big favorite to take down his first title of the year against Travaglia. Thread title pick already looking good.
