Simply that Djokovic is not expected to win, i.e. favored over the rest of the field. What else could "expected to win" mean? Of course he will almost certainly be the favorite.

Just noticed that Samantha Stosur dropped from #189 to #325 in the past week. Hopefully she can no longer make use of her protected ranking of #97 to deny other players a place in a 1000/2000 event. It would be ridiculous if Tennis Australia grants her a wildcard into the Australian Open. Even at her peak, she was never any good at her home grand slam event. She would be a guaranteed Round 1 loss regardless of who she plays.

She has 1 win from her last 15 singles matches on tour.

Sam Stosur's ranking decline continues. I'd still say she's a good chance for an undeserved wildcard at the Australian Open as a reward and farewell for her singles career.

In other news, Naomi Osaka has dropped out of the top 10, and Federer will finally fall out after Indian Wells.

Casper Ruud has become the first man to win 5 titles this year, on track to make the ATP Finals.

Looks like the Australian state of Victoria will make vaccination mandatory for international athletes. LOL @ expecting athletes to not only be fully vaccinated, but to do 14 days hotel quarantine, again!

I've been by far the biggest Sinner slappy in SE and I underestimated his chances.

He's #9 right now, with Nadal confirmed out. I wouldn't be shocked if Vax pulled out. The rest of the year is all indoor hard, where Sinner has 2 of his 3 titles. He's on the entry lists for Antwerp and Vienna, then Paris masters.

At worst, GOATS like Novak and Rafa would probably win one RR match. So the question is, is it worth their time to play the ATP Finals or not? Prize money was down 30% last year, so if not for Covid, you could have expected about USD $480,000 this year for one RR win.

Playing ATP Finals and winning 1 RR match:
2021: prizemoney not announced yet
2020: USD $306,000 (must play all 3 RR matches to get full participation fee)
2019: USD $430,000
2018: USD $406,000
2017: USD $382,000

Tiafoe beats Tsitsipas and Swartzman to get the Vienna 500 semis. Zverev beat FAA in 3 and plays Alcaraz in the semis. Tiafoe plays the winner of Sinner/Ruud.

On the pet peeve side this "Erste" tournament uses ball boys and girls with little nets and makes them all wear masks when seemingly no one else is wearing one.

I'm a little surprised Vax is playing Paris, and doubles too (with Krajinovic). I guess this means he's definitely playing WTF. Zverev ended up on the bottom half, so Vax has a super easy draw.

Sinner-Alcaraz R2 looks juicy.
