She is so mentally prepared for 15. She saw her opponent struggling, kept the pressure on without taking as much risk.

FYI the Australian Open play a tie-break to 10 in the final set. The 8-4 score wasn't a mistake, Federer was down 8-4 and won the next 6 points.

Interestingly all 4 grand slams now do different things in the final set. US Open is normal tie-break at 6-6, Aus Open is tie-break to 10 at 6-6, Wimbledon is normal tie-break at 12-12, and French Open has no tie-break at all.

Super tiebreak is so goddamned stupid. Or any final set tiebreak for that matter. They’re neutering great matches by forcing an outcome. For what purpose? To avoid a super long final set that comes along once per decade? And what exactly is wrong with that anyway? And I say this even though I’m delighted Raja won.

Also, Gauff is emulating the wrong Williams sister. Didn’t see last night but the previous match she screamed COME ON after every point she won in the final set. (If not every point, damn near.) Passion is great and all but it’s ridiculous and clearly something she learned watching Serena. We don’t need 20 more years of it.

Just ban players above 2 meters send them to a volleyball camp and go back to the old rule

You have lots of Tennis games incredibly long and boring, and yet every time you start playing extra games after 6/6 in the 5th you get something enjoyable to watch even if the tennis level isn't elite. Why ruin it with a super tie break that lasts 5 minutes

At some point you have to end it. I like the Wimbledon rule of playing it at the equivalent of sixth full set at 12-12 I think. If the match has to stretch over multiple days it destroys the conditioning challenge.

The problem is the hold percentages. The problem was only going to get worse.

Kind of fun they are all different. Impatient Americans and sudden death. I like 10 point better than 7 for a match decider.
The clay at French brings breaks into play more.

Don’t get the Serena hate. Pretty much all women players that came up in the 90s were taught the grunting thing.
