Joker avoided Nadal and Medvedev until the final. They are the two toughest opponents for him imo even though I think he’d beat them both.

I think at this point Tsitsipas is still not a threat to Novak in a major. As far as Federer, I’d much rather face him in a semi over Nadal or Medvedev and I’m not sure Roger at his advanced age will even make it to the semis.

Another advantage for Joker is that he’ll get an extra day off for the final due to the draw. So if it’s a Nadal-Medvedev semi I hope they have a long match like the Open and wear themselves out.

If you like Fed though you can get him at 10-1 or better now.

It was literally impossible for him to face Nadal in a semi. They're the 1 and 2 seeds. If you think Medvedev is that much worse of a potential opponent than Federer then sure, that part's a positive, not sure I agree but it certainly could be possible that Medvedev has passed Federer as a threat these days. I definitely think Tsitsipas is worst possible QF opponent though (other options were Zverev, Thiem and something called a "Berrettini") and I think that more than makes up for it. And it's not really about Tsitsipas being "a threat", basically noone's a threat to Novak and he'll probably just cruise regardless of draw. But I think this draw is on the harder side of what was possible.

As a North American, I love the Aussie open. Watching summertime tennis when it's winter is always fun.

I'm loaded up on alcohol and ready to stay up too late.

It's a nice way to get us to the Super Bowl. Can already see it; stay up all night Saturday, sleep all day Sunday and then watch the Super Bowl. Gonna be great.

Really enjoy Gauffs all court game. Tennis (At least the women) seems to be returning to the game I loved watching in the 70s and 80s— and the style I still play today (albeit at a modest 3.5 level).

Inspiring. I play my buddy I call “the energizer bunny” tomorrow, often have to hit 3 “winners” to get a point. Can’t wait to get out there (well “in” there- 20 degrees this week)

Not only an American you’ve never heard of, a clearly injured American that was struggling to move. One of the worst matches of all time. Dimitrov should retire.

Cici Bellis career potentially over after 4 surgeries last year, comes back to Australia with a protected ranking and is now into the 3rd round, great story.
