Tournament organizers not doing #1 Osaka any favors with Azarenka match 2nd round. #10 Serena gets Kurumi Nara. Osaka win equity was 56%, Serena 89%.

Grigor Stan been best quality of tourney so far. Grigor was up 6-4 in the 3rd set tiebreak and broke a string midpoint. Loses that point and next one on his serve to make it 6 all. Stan is ripping dick on the ball and hits an amazing running backhand passing shot at 8 all. Takes the next point to win the tiebreak 10-8 and the match. Brutal string break for Grigor there, deserved to go longer.

Rod won the grand slam during the open era. Think it’s safe to say had it been the open era a few years before that he’d have won them all twice in the open era.

Can’t just dismiss incredible achievements to make Novak look better.

This is turning into a derail, but yes-- Rod Laver was awesome. But back then no one played the Australian Open.

Also, I didn't get to watch it but the score on that Wawrinka / Dimitrov match makes it look like it was awesome.
