Seriously who didnt see this coming? Anyone other than the morons who scheduled this match first?

Isner is looking pretty done though physically.

if Nadal/Djokovic gets pushed til tomorrow that's a plus in my book. I'd rather have that on Saturday than Friday from a US viewers perspective.

This is still a pretty short match for Isner.

I wouldn't mind so much if this match didn't f*** so much with the Nadal/Djokovic match.

Also, this match will make them discuss instituting a 5th set tiebreak (which I actually hate, unless it's something different like first to 21 and win by 3 point minimum), when in reality, this would've been a non issue if they either scheduled this match first, or had a set time for the matches to start, with the 2nd match going on court 1 if the first match runs over a certain time.

To have Rafa and Novak staying prepared and ready to go on standby for about 6 hours or something is just absurd, and actually pretty disrespectful to the athletes. Then after all that these guys are such legends that they'll probably play the match of the year.

If they announecd right now that Novak/Rafa was going to start on Court 1, what percentage of this audience would leave this match at 17-17 in the 5th set to go and watch the start of that one?

If the Nadal/Djok match went this long they would hold these guys up from playing too. You're basically just arguing that the more well known players should always play first so as not to make the less anticipated match start later.

I guess you could argue that but you’re wrong. This was nailed on to be 5 sets with at least 2 tie breaks.

Further compounds my misery of Roger going out.

The current match as it is going, was highly predicted by anyone who understands what these 2 players bring to the table.

At some point the 2nd match should be scheduled to go on Court 1.

Now instead they'll talk about changing the rules when in reality the scheduling was just done poorly. If these guys have to play 10 hours to resolve this thing, it should be to their own detriment, not to their benefit.

The only issue is it makes the winner of that match play without a day's rest.

This!

I loved my Head Vilas back in the day.

I even had the same shirt and head band.

I tried to get my hair that long, but my school wouldn't allow it.

Tennis noob post. Isner and Andersen was 100% expected to be just like this. Isner once played a match that went to like 58 games.

Nadal and Novak will be a normal tennis match.

Maybe they should decide that after 6-6 in the 5th set you don't open any new cans of balls and have to finish the match with the existing balls.

I wouldn't be surprised to see all the Grand Slams go to a 5th set tiebreak at 12-12.

Seems like a reasonable compromise given that only like 4 matches in history have even gotten that far.

Uh, Isner won 12 more games than that in just the 5th set of that match.

I love Isner, but playing these long matches with tons of TBs has to be so draining, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Goddamn it. Andersen with 2 break points and doesn't get there.

If Anderson/isner weren't already drawing dead in the final, they are now.

If this was Nadal/Djokovic playing at 17-17, everybody would be talking about how great it is that there's no 5th set tiebreak.
