Bartoli just said that Hawkeye can't be used on clay because the mark isn't big enough or something. Apparently Hawkeye is accurate to within 3.6mm, so her argument sounds like nonsense.

Yeh what a load of bull.

Halep gets the finger out and just hands a break back.

Sloane +205 was just too good to pass up here. May lose but that's way too high imo.

But whatever. I'll say Thiem gets to over on the 10.5 line easy.

He still loses; but like 6-4, 7-6, 7-5.

So I got Thiem for 15 games.
The line is 15.5 btw.

That's weird that my guess was so close to the actual line.

I just used the 10.5 number because someone said guessed it earlier in the thread.

I hope Thiem wins the trophy, but if I were betting I would bet on Rafa to have a good day, Thiem to have a bad day, and the under 15.5 to pay out.

Okay. In the battle of the Olds vs Youngs, we have a primo matchup.

Feldman Power Rankings Young no. 2 Thiem (Zverev) vs Feldman Power Rankings Old no. 2 (Fed) for all the marbles. I'm actually excited for this thing.

How do you know the call is wrong? I seriously don't understand this sentiment. I haven't played a ton on clay, but a physical mark should be better in most circumstances. Occasionally they look at the wrong mark and things like that, but it can't be that bad.

On a point like that, Thiem had won the game.

It was wrong, we have hawkeye on every other surface apart from clay.

We've seen plenty of calls being called wrong because the clay 'explodes' on contact with the ball. Hawkeye is accurate to within 3.6mm just get it and alleviate the issue all together.

A tennis ball hit hard flattens out when it hits the ground, and the mark on the dirt isn't as accurate because it doesn't reflect that.

They also look at the wrong mark sometimes because there are so many.

Plus, why not have hawkeye, it's just better.

ETA: great photo on this website of a ball on impact:

If that was the case it would lead to a systematic error where balls that were in are called out. In this case it was ruled to be in.

I am really curious on the accuracy of hawkeye, simply because it is pretty impressive to be accurate within a few mm. So impressive that I am a little skeptical. I'm sure it's not wildly off though.
